Welp, What the hell, here I go.

SOOOOO I got the car back in like march of 07 from Drew (stock5oh)
it was 100% bone stock previously old lady driven. Wasnt perfect, but was a good decent start.
I had originally been a blue/silver car, and was repainted the green it is now (and they did a shity job at that...)
The rear bumper was flaking on the corners, and just before I bought it, Drew hit a ****** with the car and that cause the front passenger corner of the bumper to loose some paint.

Not a big deal though, I figured it was better than nothing, and would at the very least get me into the RWD platform and with a solid chassis too.

I picked up the car with 88k on the clock and everything looked factory.

When I purchased the car from Drew I also purchased:
a set of Long tubes and straight pipes to some knock off 40 series muffs
MSD distributer
BBK/Edelbrock 70mm throttle body
Hurst shifter

I then went in search of a set of wheels for the car, as it had the stock turbines on it, and bald worthless tires.
Drew had a set of weld drag lites with bald M/T on them, but hemhad on whether or not he wanted to sell them.

So I picked up a set of 03/04 cobra wheels in black and a set of MT ET street DR’s.
Before those came in drew deceided to sell the welds and it was too good of a deal for me to pass up so I bought them.

The car then looked like this but without the black hood

http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc232/RabbidV8/29.jpg

I then bought and installed a few suspension parts:
Upper and lower tubular rear control arms
Lakewood 70/30 drag shock front and rear
Eibach drag launch springs with air bag
I then ripped off the front swaybar for better weight transfer
Subframe connecters (that I had welded in, not bolted in)

The car also had a ghetto cold air intake on it, one in which the air filter fell off, forcing me to buy a rear CAI…

I then called up my boy Thomas and bought:
Electric fan
Underdrive pullies
When I installed these items, I also pulled the smog pump off.

When driving around I was stopped at 48th and O and a retard 16yr old rear ended me, but that was okay cause the only damage was to the rear bumper that needed painting anyways.

Next on the list was new hood as mine had scratches on it and I came across this guy:

http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc232/RabbidV8/22.jpg

I also bought a replacement rear bumper and just flat blacked it.

Next on the list was dealing with the Rear end, as the posi had gone out.

I then purchased a set of 4.10’s and a posi rebuild kit.
By far my favorite mod done to date. And yes I recalibrated the speedo to the new gears (brooke…)

I then bought an aluminum drive shaft as my yoke was a little sloppy on the stock one.

I then did a little of this:
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc232/RabbidV8/14.jpg
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc232/RabbidV8/10.jpg

Which lead to this:

http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc232/RabbidV8/19.jpg

So I added these:

http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc232/RabbidV8/20.jpg
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc232/RabbidV8/23.jpg

I then went out and bought some gauge pods and installed this:
Wideband
Oil pressure gauge
Water temp gauge (gf is a pimp and bought this for me)
Volt gauge (gf is a pimp and bought this for me)
Pillar pod
Dash pod

Some wheres along the line I bought a nitrous kit for $100, then was able to trade the front end of another car for another nitrous kit.

Neither have been fully hooked up, as I need to get a few pieces, but all are complete and wired up and lines are all ran, I just need to get off my lazy but and finish it.

I also went ahead and installed the battery in the trunk.

Then as I was driving around with my oil pressure gauge not hooked up, as it was screwy at first, my oil pump locked up and I ended up with this:
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc232/RabbidV8/IMG_8399.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc232/RabbidV8/IMG_8397.jpg [http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc232/RabbidV8/IMG_8396.jpg

http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc232/RabbidV8/IMG_8389.jpg
^^the best part is I put that back in,

I picked up a stock 50k mile block and just threw it in so I could get going again.
At this time I also purchased:
BBK SSI intake manifold
BBK valve covers
E303 cam (Yes tanner it has a cam, but that’s only if you consider a .498 lift cam anything worth speaking about…)

Right about the time I got it going again, the winter hit.

So I deceided to make the best of it and strip the sound deadening out and put in a new heater core (VERY GHEY work…)

During this winter down time, I also added a few other select items:
Tubular K member
Tubular control arms
Coilovers in the front with drag springs

Johnny
9th May 2008, 05:26 PM
And here is what is sitting in my garage:
stud girdles
on the way is FMS Tall black and red valve covers to clear the girdles
and on the way are new push rods cause I suck at setting valve lash...

1.8 60' and 8.3 @83mph
1.9 60' and 8.5 @83mph (surprisingly this as with the tires getting blown off and getting sidways twice...)
1.8 60' and 8.3 @85mph

I have a chance to get another powerplant, and its really what I have wanted all along, so there is no real point in messing with this one, if I can get the other one going soon. I posted everything for sale, but if it will take more than a month to get the other block from the machine shop and put together, then I am not going to sell anything yet

Johnny

welp, here is the newest update:

I tore the engine down about 3 weeks ago:
and sent my 1st 351w into the machine shop,
they then called and said that block was toast.

I bought another block, take it in, wait a week and get about the same call... :pissed:

so now I am looking at another block this sat.

but what i have is this:
.30 over forged 10.5to1 pistons
truck rods
truck crank
All balanced
Trick flow stage 3 cam
Edelbrock performer RPM heads
1.6 rockers
new intake:
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc232/RabbidV8/IMG_8628.jpg
mac 1.75" to 3" collector longtubes
Spyder EFI intake elbow, to go with above intake
I also have a 90mm throttle body
AFM 4" NA powerpipe
Pro-M 80mm mass air calibrated for 30lb injectors
Ford racing 30lb injectors
Dss Main stud girdle
Rocker stud girdle
Ford Racing Tall valve covers to clear the girdle
351w swap pan
walbro 255 intank fuel pump
new fuel rails
new timing chain
ARP hardware throughout

I still need:
tranny (dont want to use my stock t-5)
Clutch
Flywheel
misc gaskets
mufflers (and really an X pipe)
to get a block and have it machined

Jasen

Johnny

bah, it will help with the spray, and its not gona hurt things, just means I can use it down the road if I went bigger or FI, but yes, the 90mm is a bit big.

then again, we arent talking about a 302 with some spray here son

I would just think you would have a shitty idle and bad throttle response. I know i had a 70mm T/B and it wouldn't idle worth a ****, i put a 65 back on and it was smooth as silk.

I would kinda doubt those issues, I am not talking about a 302 here, I had a 70mm on my 302 and had great throttle response and a perfect idle, I think your issues was not just the TB.

Johnny

this will work for an answer to your question and an update:
just dropped all my stuff off at the machine shop (had to move to a diff one, cause they had a block for me, and it was easier to move pistons instead of a block)

and they said they are about 3 weeks out, so I am thinking about another month, cause as soon as I get it back I will take about a week to put it together and into the car

*crosses fingers*

na, no point, its not like i am building a H/C/I 302. Tho that is most def not me saying I wont race just about anybody that wants to. I would hang myself if I became the guy that wouldnt race just cause I thought my **** was too fast. If it runs as good as I am hoping, and someone with a high 12 or 13 hell even what I think is a 13.5 sec car wants to run, I would always be more than happy to oblige. I mean, shoot cole was okay with racing me when I had jsut exhaust, and I am sure there was not a doubt in his mind that he would murder me (which he did)

ah, I thought you were making the car out to be more modded, I would be happy to race, if you want to know where you sit, race ahamd(thunder) I raced him and beat him by 1.5-2 cars about every time, and I ran 8.30's in the 1/8mile, which is about a 12.9-13.0 in the 1/4.

also, take a look at how you do out of the hole compared to him, I was cutting 1.8 60' times on drag radials at the track with a little bit of a bog, and I got him out of the hole by a good car or two. And I figure on the street I am cutting somwhere in the 1.9 range (i cut a 1.9 at the track, and thats about what my car fells like on the street)

so if you beat him out of the hole, then I would say about 1.9 on the street (prolly more consistent would be 2.0 60') and if he beats you then I would say you are cutting 2.4 or so 60's and like a 13.5 1/4 if he beats you by 2 cars or so.

what he said. that's a common problem for T5's. they come factory with an aluminum one, summit sells a stronger steel one for like $40. cheap and easy upgrade.

why isn't this done yet? i bet HPM in omaha carries them in stock.

On a side note, I did accomplish a few things:
Rear coilovers came in and are installed
New upper and lower rear control arms are on
Sold the black 17's and got slicks, so the fats and skinnies are back on
installed the caster/camber plates up front

Prepping the engine bay so that I can paint it all black. the whole some green some blue thing is not really working for me...

Also will be readjusting my K-member

heads are on
Valve lash is set
intake and valve covers are on

then the flywheel and clutch will be put on

all thats left is to run one wire on the car (for MSD as I put it inside the car now) and to notch my K-member so I can slide it back and I will bolt up the tranny and put the drivetrain in

Johnny
30th December 2008, 09:03 AM
and it ran for 3 months, then I popd the head gaskets racing that black turbo 5.0 from york.

I at first assumed it to be an assembly error, and well... I guess it still was, but maybe not 100% what I at first thought it to be.
I do not 100% remember tq'ing the head studs down to 85lbs ft on the top row and 75lbs ft on the bottom row. So I at first thought it to be that I blew the hg because I did not tq the heads down right, but after pulling them off and taking them in to be checked there was a grove in the head, that was prolly there when I first got the heads (used) and thats what caused it to blow the gaskets.

Oh yeah and it pressurized the coolant system from like day one...

either way, $155 later its all going back together.

So really its still my fault because I should have had the heads re-surfaced but I was a lazy bastard, and now I am doing it again...

oh well.

Plus it gave me a chance to redo a lot of the wiring and lengthen some of it to run it in the fender wells and then take out the wiring for the smog crap.

I will get pics up soon

**** I think that the cobra R SVO hoods are onlylike a 2.5inch hood, so as long as you are going to have a carb you will be fine. Keep in mind I am EFI, and my Elbow sticks up quite a ways, and I do not have drop mounts. So if you go with a carb and your 2.5" hood you will be fine, just dont hope for a 6" air filter. But my EFI spider elbow is taller than a carb... just depends on how big of everything you go with. I would just say, use a hood and no filter and your fine...

Johnny

finally got everything needed... but a couple day delay caused me to add some things to my to do list...

Here is what i got together now:
front cross drilled rotors (huge gouge in passenger front...)
EBC yellow stuff kevlar race pads
Block plate (still had to be drilled but whatever)
Starter heat wrap (if you had been around last race season, you would know that my car would never restart because of heat soak to the starter...)
Hardlines made for line lock
This little job required pulling both front brake hardlines off and taking them in to Lincoln clutch and brake and having new nuts put on and the lines re-flared... had stupid metric brake lines on it... ghey...
Tranny cooler

had an issue with the tranny cooler fittings on the tranny as one was broken when I got the tranny, and cant seem to find correct ones that will thread in. The case is not pipe thread... Still looking into this.

But tranny is bolted up to the block and the intake will be bolted down shortly.

Already have my exhaust gaskets (need to get some o2 sensor bung plugs as I will not run sensors anymore and because of the pan on the tranny (0versized) the sensors hit the pan.

Flowmaster 1 chamber race mufflers

Little bit of work done:
Fender opened up to better accept the 4in intake pipe i have.
stood there looking at the shitty wiring, so I have spent the last few weeks opening up the harness and cutting out all the unused wires. Then stared at it longer and deceided to add a few extra days of work and tuck the wiring harness...

the front harness was easy and done in about 30 min, but the back harness is now being routed into the cab of the car. this is done because it runs from the passenger side over to the driverside along the back of the firewall. VERY ugly. So it will now run inside the cab the only the necessary wires will run into the engine bay.

All the wires have been cut, labeled and ran inside the car.
The wiring that HAS to be in the engine bay has been layed out and I will begin sodering tonight. Anyone bored with a soder gun can come over and lengthen wires with me if they want... :)

And that is where she sits, engine is back together sitting right next to the car waiting to go in, I just wanted to mess with the harness and line lock first to get everything finished up before I put the engine back in

Johnny
7th April 2009, 01:19 PM
now the only wires that will be seen in the engine bay are the fuel injector harness, dizzy harness, so that will clean things up a bunch. too bad the engine bay still isnt painted... oh well for right now, it will still look better than as if I just threw an engine in.

You have a regular AOD? C6? My mind is failing me at this old age. The cooler fittings would likely be regular tube fittings, similar to your brake lines. Take a look inside the holes to double check.

welp, I had it all back together and the engine in and REAL close to starting it, BUT... My buddy offered to paint the whole car and my bike for a rediculous deal. SOOOO I tore it all apart.

pics to come, but its ready to be prepped and painted, save pulling the engine.

Thats the real deal why I am doing it, because the previous person to paint the car did not do the engine bay, and they did a SUPER shitty job on the door jams, so now the engine bay is getting sprayed and the door jams. and if I wana pull the carpet and the seats he said he would spray the inside of the car also, so there really shouldnt be any blue left over when its done....

Ya, it'll probably be fine. I just play the part of the skeptic, as most of the used transmissions Ive bought were junk, some how or another.

Posted via Mobile Device

I had a c-4, I just sold it to D-lac. Currently looking for another, I had one lined up, but it fell through. no worries tho, as I want to put new brake lines on it anyways, and take my time putting the engine in, and hiding the wires that are left (from the tuck). So I have plenty to do, plus i need new slicks, and its getting cold enough, no interest in rushing the car ya know.

oh yeah and I just bought a house, so I have plenty to do...

looks about where i am at with mine. i never though it would be such a ***** to weld all them damn holes shut.

Johnny
22nd September 2009, 11:56 AM
ya the welding was a good amount of work, the real work comes when you go to smooth it all out, and if you do like i did and weld a cover over the top of the frame rail, then recreating a top rail line is a *****

painted and cleared interior, door and hatch jams:

no pics, but before paint we welded the tears in the floor pan where the seats bolt down (very common problem)

also scuffed the gt body kit for paint. Tomorrow the inside of the hatch and the door under the trim will be painted. Then its finish sanding the few dings smooth, wash, wetsand, wipe down and paint!

Johnny
1st October 2009, 09:51 AM
the exterior hasnt been painted, they are coming off when the paint goes on. plus a little overspray isnt going to hurt them anymore. I already need to have a certain member of this board come over and help me polish the current layer of overspray off of them....
