WL: 2001 White Camaro SS

I am bored and so I am going to write up a little log for all of you.

A short history of the background of my car. I bought the Camaro in March of 2004 for 18k with 47k miles on it. It currently has 64k, I didn't have my license for about 2 years,anyway, I am the second owner of the car and have no plans of ever selling it.

2004: I dyno'd it and put down 324HP and 311TQ. I ran a 13.5 quarter mile on a completely stock car. In May I installed ****** Super Comp headers and a SLP lid. There was nitrous on the car but I never got it to work until about September. I still remember that race. I was racing Bimmer Jim and I bypassed the fuel regulator and when I hit the switch I was like "HOLY SHIIIIT". I ran a 12.9 on 150 shot of nitrous, headers and lid.

2005: This year was a big year in transition for my car. I purchased a TREX camshaft (specs: 242/248- .650lift 109.9LSA) Comp dual valve springs, Comp titanium retainers,thunder racing chromoly pushrods, and Crane spring seats. I put a short throw shifter rod on. I also bought my MT Drags (26X10X15) on Centerline Convo Pro rims. I dyno'd at 448HP and 433TQ on motor. My best time was a 12.02 quarter mile at 129 MPH and a 2.5 60'.

2006: Not much here I didn't have a license so I had no ambition to spend money on the car. But at the end of the year is when I spent some big bucks. I purchased a complete Moser 9" rear end with 4:56 pro street gears, full spool, narrowed 3", nodular case, 1350 yoke and 31 spline forged axles. I also purchased BMR Xtreme duty torque arm, Xtreme duty rear sway bar, Billet control arms, 3.5" aluminum driveshaft, subframe connectors. I bought a centerforce dual friction clutch but I didn't install it until April 2008...I no I am lazy.

2007: I got my license back in March. This year I didn't add much, just and SLP Line lock and Electric fan switch. I didn't do much racing and if I did I got beat by cars i shouldn't have. The reason... my procrastination in putting my clutch in.

2008: I purchased a racetronix fuel pump, I actually installed my clutch. I purchased Spohn solid motor mounts, polyurethane transmission mount. Hey, I got mufflers too believe it or not. I have a new nitrous set up this year, it is a wet kit and so I purchased a Harris Speed works stand alone fuel system for it. I bought some Harland Sharpe Shaft mounted rocker arms.

Future Mods: I want to get some head work done, but with my camshaft I need Pistons first. So future mods will be internal engine work. Not sure which direction I will go yet.

morel lifters and cometic head gaskets are coming. As well as steel braided fuel line. I'm trying to get the fuel and top of the motor finished. The only thing I will need next is rails and injectors.

Didn't dyno. I Installed a new battery and starter. There was bailing wire holding the distributor cap on. So I am going to "bolt" that down.

I got absolutely raped from GM on Head Bolts ($172) but Thunder racing accidentally sent me an LS6 PCV system which they sell for $160 so I'm going to sell that to make up the difference.

It calls for 6 hours of labor just to drop the motor. I think i'd just spend my time doing it from the top.

That's an extra 3-4 hours that I won't have to waste, plus the AC unit is out, as you can see, so it really is pretty easy. I had no problems with bolting the heads on it couldn't have been much easier IMO

Got re-tuned last night finally with my car at 100%. Put down 400.0hp & 373.6TQ. Pre-tune Hp was 382hp and 358tq but the power band was up and down through out the RPM range. Keep in mind that those numbers are going through a 9" and 4:56 gears. Raced a sliver foxbody with red hood last night and Holy ****ing smooth pull. We need to race again Alley to see the difference.

with what I have done, there is no "NEED" for them. I would prefer them as you can reuse the ARP's. But as stated above, they weren't sent with my order and I couldn't wait to get them shipped.

Jakes, Ive Seen nothing but good from these guys, and are pretty much the leader with 4L60/80's. I talked to them personally, and he said the 750 hp rated th400 would be fine at 1k hp with a turbo. they rate it low for nitrous use.

JW trans, they had a 1k hp rated one for 1800 bucks when i was looking, full rollerised, ultra bell (sfi approved), and brake. super nice guys to talk to.

Huges is up there too, but i was more comfortable with the first too personally.

my best 60' to date is a 1.77 or 1.78, consistently pulling between 1.81 and 1.85 though.

only ran bike at the track 4 days so far. my times WILL improve this year :)

Like I said, I am not the most knowledgeable person with it, I don't know from personal experience just from reading **** on the internet. But from what I understood, longer duration would flow more air since the valves are open longer, thus being able to hold more boost at a higher RPM.

The thing to remember about boosted engines is that what works well in an N/A application will also work well in a boosted application assuming the proper changes are made to compression ratio, timing and fueling needs.

Build a strong lower compression N/A engine and it will be a beast when you throw 5, 10, even 15 psi at it. I would love to build a fairly stock Buick 455 and toss a turbo or two on it...:drool:
