John deere 2 cyl suck. Allis FTMFW till john deere when 6 cylinder. We have 3 38 wcs, a wd 45, 1938 b, and a d14. We even had a ac dealership till 1946.

Don't get me wrong, two cylinder John Deere's suck, but all Allis Chamlmers suck. Get a Binder if you want a decent old tractor, or just buy 4010's and newer and have a real tractor.

I have a super h but most binders suck. Drive a 4440 then a 5088 and tell me which is better. Allis still kicks ass 1955 and before. Oh and 4010 suck 4040 ftw.

Ok I will give you the fact that nearly anything with more than 2 cly with a deere on the front is a great tractor. But you have to look at a 1855 is has some fine engineering for the year it was built. 6 forward speeds with a over direct and under for each speed shiftable on the fly. Then the engine. The deere has a n/a 404 diesel were as the oliver uses a 310 turboed engine that under low power demand uses less fuel but still makes the same power when needed. Oliver used the same engine up to the 2155 just with more boost and a intercooler.

I grew up driving a 3010, 4020, 4630, 4440, 4640, 4840, and a 4955. I have spent countless hours in 5488, 7150, 7250, 8950, and various MX's. It took me five minutes in an Allis to realize what worthless piles of **** they were. We also had a Super M-T/A, the hand clutch on two cylinder John Deeres are a joke compared to an old Binder.

Ur right utility aka 2540s and such suck. Nearly IH every tractor you listed is really a case not a IH. The 5488 isn't but if it has the same cab as our 5088 you can shove it up your ass. I guess growing up on allis makes me like them. My super h is fine but even rebuilt the brakes suck ass. I would take our 4440-4040 and 8110 over nearly any other tractor and we have a few too. Since I started farming on the side I have been saving for a 8110.

55 series > newer John Deeres.

Also a Magnum is just as much International as it is Case. International was alreadly working on that cab before the 1985 merger. If you don't think so, you should see our neighbor back home's prototype 5488 with a Magnum cab. It is a pretty subtle difference at first, but after a double take, you end up scratching your head. Oh, and trust me, I has driven plenty of 06, 56, 66, and 86 series Internationals.

FTW fo sho, used to have a 1949 Chalmers out at my cabin, that thing ran like brand new when we sold it...the only difference was it had the seperated front wheels...I loved popping wheelies on that thing :woot:
