unless you like launching on the side of the track and risking fish tailling it into the wall... then by all means please help yourself.. i guess front wheel drive wouldn't be as big of a problem..

Yea they have really gotten to be strict there and street cars are always second to them for priority. My uncle owned that track before the new owners and things were alot more open. The only good thing now is that they resurfaced the track. Pretty much most everyone runs .3-.5 slower in Kearney than Scribner did though due to the elevation.
Coupelx
15th March 2008, 12:26 AM
why cant you run in the grooves?
Jasen
15th March 2008, 01:06 AM
They only allow cars with slicks to run in the groove.
This is retarded as street tires stir up dirt outside of the groove and throw it everywhere.
What it boils down to is the track management / prep crew is too lazy or cheap to keep the track properly prepped between runs.
I like my nice straight body panels and paint job the way it is without having to do any body work from poor track prep.
You can go 15 miles east of Lincoln and dirt track race.

Are you sure they won't let you run in the grove? They never told me to get out of it, and I ran street tires....but you guys are right, prep sucks....go around and talk to the people that race there every weekend....they'll tell you it sucks too!
Good thing for street cars is that they put up lights for this year....they should be ready to race at night by May! Night racing FTW!

stoked??? are you ****ing kidding... did you not read my post?? that track is a joke.... track prep can very so much that one day your cutting down 12.8' and the next good luck get below 13's. Having to let off the gas because your scared you're going to slam in to the wall while launching on marbles. Please.
KCIR or Ban.. when that track(KRP) gets their **** together and realizes the real money is in street racing let me know..
Here's some math for you... If you have 40 guys show up on sunday and 40 guys show up on saturday... the saturday crew is bracket racing..... and sunday crew is street racing.
40 guys chip in $35 each. = $1400
after paying crew, trophies, winnings etc... what do you think is left? not a whole ****ing lot.. and this is a whole day event... so your crew is expensive.
on streetracing days..
you can open for half as many hours, for nearly the entry fee.. you pay half.
half the crew thats used for brackets is required for street racing and for half as long... getting in 2 lines isn't hard... no trophies and no winnings to pay out..
I talked to Greg owner of scribner... he said he hated bracket racing for 2 reasons.. one he thinks it's lame... anytime you put a throttle stop on a car it's not racing. The other thing is from an owers point of view it's expensive and doesn't bring in near the money street racers do..

David, you should join the KRP forum and post that exact thing!^^^ If you don't, I'm gonna copy and paste it over there....after editing out the cuss words.
BTW, I believe the inbred that signals the cars to pull up to line doesn't work there anymore. Maybe they'll get their heads out of their asses this year and actually prep the track. Maybe I should get some old POS car with bad tires and slam it into the wall a couple times....maybe then they would let us run in the grooves.

i personally wouldn't mind goin, i dont really have a huge problem with krp, i showed up with brand new drag radials last year they didnt recognize that they were drs, made me run out of the groove just blew em off. I simply told the guy at the line they were drs he said no prob did my burn out and was in the groove from that point on, yea its slower in krp do to the alt, but at the same time is that so bad if u can say i ran this at krp and people think its slow until you race em at sea level? idk everyone is entitled to their own opinions i had fun last year hopefully i can go again soon with the new setup on the slowbra

Put up or shut up! If you can overrun KRP with street cars then do so thats the only way to get what street racers are looking for. If you dominate the field you have to be catered to.

Thats funny, last time we where there the street cars line was longer then the bracket racers line and they still let them run multiple times before they even looked at us. We had to go up to the track manager and ask for our money back before he said we could run again. AWESOME!!!

That track manager is no longer with us he has steped down the track will be run alot different.... like TDC said please bring all your friends in May we will have lights up and a lot more open track time.
who has a fast street car up there?...and what is fast?
we have guys that come down from denver and wyoming the run in the 9's so if we can get them some people to run with them we can put on some heads-up racing.
and i know there is some cars up in eastern nebraska that can beat them.
BUT if your going to be dicks and ***** and moan about everything please stay home!

I think the people bitching here have a right to. They paid for seat time on a prepped track and got stiffed. Some of them more than once because you guys from out there come on here saying "it's different now blah blah" and it wasn't. What do you expect? Gearheads are oppinionated and speak out.
Now you're saying if that place screws anyone again, we're not allowed to "be dicks and ***** and moan"?
Listen to what people are saying, read through the swear words and you will see the bitching has a point to it.
If you want my oppinion and you want to make some real money with that track, try a few of these things:
1) PREP THE TRACK
2) Let the street cars / test & tune cars equally get in line and run on the track in the evening. Brackets during the day like always.
3) Have a grudge match night. Hire an announcer with a personality more substantial than a blank piece of paper. Have the announcer talk smack when someone gets called out. (Ever watch golf? It's like watching paint dry.)
4) Start a series with cars that race heads up, run what ya brung, maybe split it into classes, run that one night once a month.
5) MOST OF ALL: Treat ALL your racers like a valued customer. This will go a long ways if you want to expand the participants at your track. You are limited by population base out there, so if you want to expand beyond what you have there, this must happen.
I could go on for a long time about this.....

FWIW, I hooked better out of the groove than in it last year. 1.5 60's out of the groove is pretty decent IMO. On the other side of things, if more VHT was used, that may not be the case...Id probably just have another tranny sitting on my garage floor :-p

19th March 2008, 09:58 AM
out of the groove is lineing up outside of the entire lane. The surface is just like the street. so if you can cut 1.5 60's out of the groove then you can do it on the street too. That would be pretty impressive. Kinda hard to believe.

DevilSperm
19th March 2008, 01:22 PM
Yeah, I understand that has to suck. IIRC though, the only reason they stopped letting street tires run in the groove was because at an NHRA event, the NHRA guys were bitching about the treads tearing up the track. Big brother always seems to win out.
I dont agree with everything KRP does. Some of it annoys the **** out of me, but its my home track and its close. They are getting few and far between so I support it so I have somewhere to race legally. Hopefully with the changes this year things will head in the right direction.
We need to give constructive criticism and try to not come off as bitchy on the net, which is hard to do. We all know how hard sarcasm is to pick up on a forum, its the same thing really.

Ok, I was talking to a friend of mine last night about things out at the track. He said the reason street tires couldn't run in the grooves is because, like someone said, it tears up the surface. He said the track officials didn't have a say in it. I guess NHRA made them kick the street tire cars out of the groove.
If you have DR's, just tell them, and they will let you run in the groove.

They were trying to set records, Im sure they wanted a smooth launch pad to help with that.
Im confused though. With radials (for me) the groove is greasy and slick and I hook like asshole. I can see it helping with DRs, but an actual all season normal tread street tire, its worse. Im just trying to figure out if we are bitching just because we can or there is an actual argument here. Granted my car is AWD, but I just dont get it. Someone enlighten me with facts about how much better they hook in the groove and toss up your 60' times if you can.
Alley
28th March 2008, 05:40 PM
In Groove: 2.1
Out of Groove: 2.3
After the bracket ricers were done they let us go back in the groove and my 60' times instantly dropped by 2 tenths.
