not gonna lie if you go and check scr (DONT" DO IT) but if you did. you could probably find a quote from me saying i wouldn't buy vista until mid to late this year because i would want to wait for the "bugs" to get worked out.

Well. I built a new comp and needed a OS. So instead of buying a xp OS and then upgrading later i said **** it i'll get vista premium and deal with it.

I can honstly say that i've had less problems with vista than i still have with XP (media) on my laptop. Not that i have really any issues with either but since i've had vista i can't say that i have really had any OS related issues. Software/bios/drivers other misc ****.. sure.. but not vista.

Vista FTMFW:happy:

Vista was stable from the day it was released, people just blamed the Vista for a lack of drivers and other problems associated with software companies not being ready for a new OS.

yeah i know the OS is stable.....but a still prevelant (word?) lack of drivers and software compatability is keeping me from making it my primary OS.

Vista sucks ass. I've had it from months now and there are constantly rundll errors as well as frequent restarts. I dont blame the laptop because I've had it replaced 3 times and its not some cheap emachines POS. There are also many many java script errors as well as the word version it has on it is far from user friendly

I have none of the problems you just described and been running it since apirl. Either crap top or user sorry... I know everyone will experiance different things. Spending 2k on a laptop doesn't = dependable.

i agree with david 100%

i have none of those errors. i have been running for months. frequent restarts? for updates? those are good things. other operating systems like mac hardly do updates at all and because of that they are extremely vulnerable.
you should do a search on your problems. maybe someone else is having them. perhaps you should try to reinstall java..... i doubt its windows though.

java and vista don't get along ...at least they didnt until java's most recent update from what i hear. try updating java. might solve the problem

I've been triple booting XP Pro, Vista Ultimate, and Ubuntu since a couple days before Vista went retail.

I use Vista 90% of the time and haven't had a single issue with it. Ubuntu is just to play around with, and XP is for when I game or need to run software that isn't supported on Vista, which is almost never anymore.

ASUS A8N-SLI
AMD Athlon 4400+
2GB PC3200 RAM
250Gb WD HDD
Creative Audigy 2 ZS

theres your problem, youre probably using the old socket 939 boards and slower memory

David

its the athlon socket...

spoonraker

It is socket 939, it's an aging former top of the line build. I forgot to mention there is a 512MB eVGA nVidia 7900GTX in this beast too.

I don't see what you mean by "there's your problem" if you read my post you will see that I have been running vista for quite some time flawlessly with the only exception being software companies' inability to keep up with technology.

The only programs I have to switch to XP for are obscure programs for random things involving my carpc that were developed by people in their free time, they are open source and don't care about supporting vista. The only reason I switch to XP for gaming is because I just don't want to reinstall everything on the vista partition and I'm too lazy to figure out how to make it work on vista since I hardly play anything.

I use virtual pc, and load XP on it for programs like visual studio 2003 that dont run on Vista. I also found that gaming works much better on Vista than XP.
