ok here is my issue and im going to put this in bullet points so its easier to read
- the monster tach that gets the signal from the MSD says 5800 rpm when the stock tach in the dash says 7000 rpm
- the dyno confirms that the monster tach has the right rpm from the MSD box
- the computer in the car should have a 7000 rpm rev limiter stock.
- the computer thinks that the car is at 7000 rpm when its actually at 5800 rpm and rev limits the car
any ideas what the issue is before i go rippin into it?

you sure that the comp has a 7k rev limiter?

double check the tach signal going to the dash. hook up a digital analyzer to grab the rpm's inline and give it a shot and see what happens. ur stock tach might just be fubard

when I hooked up my msd6AL in the boostang it mentioned fords may need some kind of adapter to make the factory tach work. Mine just happened to not need it so I can't be much more help than that, but their website has decent tech support.

i know the mazda requires one. i've got one you can try out if you'd like? i got it when i was installing an msd 6 box, but then the box didnt work. so i'm left with the tach adapter. i'll be going back to MSD again hopefully before this season is over, but until then you're welcome to try it out and see if it helps anything.

ignore the most on MWS. the car does indeed have a 7k limiter if you have the A9L or equivilent computer.

right, dyno dan and i looked it up last night, i have a list of things to try out to see if they work...
1. power and ground going directly to battery from box
2. confirm wiring of ignition system

3. hook up an LS1 and see if the problem goes away...

couple of guys on the gmmmmm board said that the stock computer is rev limited at 6250...that could be an issue...

couple of guys on the gmmmmm board said that the stock computer is rev limited at 6250...that could be an issue...that would be the A9P and other auto computers supposedly, although i dont ever remember finding one on my ventures north of 6k rpm :rolleye2:

I've always read the opposite on the Corral. Auto computers supposedly didnt have a rev limiter, mine didnt according to my Autometer Tach and I had an AOD. The 5spds had the 6250 limit
