okay, so for a math course this semester, it uses a CD called MathXL...

when i go to mathxl.com, i can get signed on and have access to the assignments...heres where the trouble starts.

you have install a couple players (mathxl players) to do the problems. i try to download the first player, and then my computer freezes.

all it says i need are administrative rights (which i have), set the level of security to medium (to allow ActiveX controls), and disable popup blocker (which i did)

if anyone has any idea as to why this could be happening, let me know. i had to go to my aunt's house yesterday to do the assignment, and it downloaded without a hassle on her pc.

thanks

Restart the computer in safe mode with networking support, login to the "Administrator" account (not your regular account) and try installing the ActiveX programs.

Firewall ownage. with out seeing it, it's hard to say what the problem is. Could be hardware failure due to a more advance player than laster year. But if no one else is having problems with the install check things that can interferr. The player probably connects to a server and your firewall is saying **** that. Thats just a guess.

Turn firewall off and try again.

Hit F8 at startup to get to the boot menu, it's just one of the options. Normal, Safe mode, safe mode with networking support, command prompt, etc.
