2 races fri. night

this last fri night i got 2 races: first i raced a 2G dsm talon, turbo awd etc, except auto, got him out of the hole good, and got him by about 3 cars.

second, a turbo miata, he got me real good on the dig, but i hit 3rd and was walking past at a pretty decent pace, so about 2-3 again by the time we let off.

yeah, everytime i go somwhere and drive by people that dont know me or the car, they say "wtf is this ****, get this POS cavalier out of here" They were saying that just before racing dakota kid sat. night too.

3400 SFI OHV engine RPO code:LA1
the only sohc engine that gm made, that i recall, is the 2.0 in sunbirds

yeah when i first heard cavalier i was like WTF??? but after hearing what motor was in it i knew better. i just wish my car would quit misfiring because i think we'd be a decent race.

he DID say he didnt bring his boost controller with him that night, if that makes a difference, so i dont know what kind of boost he was running. i helped him fill his methanol injection before we raced.

if things keep up they way they are i MIGHT be ready for a first race between us this weekend cody. so far, the misfire has ceased to be an issue (don't really know why, its rather random since i havent touched the ignition system). hopefully, it stays gone.

^^ we might be able to do that, i've discovered that i need a fuel pump now... which is causing my pinging/knock

yeah, above 3-3500 rpm, pressure drops from 55 to 45psi, not good. (which is also the rpm range where the pinging occurs, above 3500, WOT.

i take it u checked pressure before the FPR then if you're aiming towards the pump...

correct, i hooked up a fuel psi gauge on the end of the rail and made a run down the road. i need to maintain 55psi WOT, or my 22lb injectors are about as useless at 3.1 16lb injectors. as soon as i hit about 3500 rpm, the fuel psi dropped real fast down to 45psi, which is also about the time that the pinging/knock starts to occur. i tried changing the fuel filter, no change. so im most certain my 200k stock pump isnt cutting it. she'll maintain 55psi WOT in 4th and 5th, at low rpm, but thats it. i think a 3800 s/c pump is a drop in for the module style 93-94 j tanks, so that looks like somthing to look forward to. otherwise thats somthing else i need to buy now.

lol, i hope i dont pop it, if i treat her easy she wont ping. I checked ebay, they got gtp pumps for $50! so i'll probably go with one of those, so that'll save money. george, despite i bought my 3400 from olstons, i probably wouldnt trust them to give me the right pump.

k, i'll look into it, and hope they dont want too much. i discovered the only actual aftermarket pump that is made for 93-94 plastic module style j tanks is a racetronix for about $300! but im sure it would be worth it.

idk if 300 could ever be worth it for a fuel pump. i think my warblo (idk the brand name spelling) 190 and 255 upgrades are both priced under 200.


and mine's about a 20 minute installation. do u have to drop the tank on yours?

indeed, in tank. thats it though, the racetronix one, is the ONLY BOLT-IN aftermarket application. which is why a 3800 s/c pump is probably a better way to go.

aparently people do that with impalas and grand prix's too???? at least one came in for gas fumes in the cab.....well foudn out that some shop did that and just used duct tape to seal where it was cut
