Bobby Light
5th September 2007, 08:08 AM
your kidding me right? dave has a turbo civic for a bit, it blows up and he sells it...ok...guess that beats me.

Bobby Light
5th September 2007, 08:11 AM
coop what cars have you "built"

coop
5th September 2007, 08:26 AM
91 turbo b18c1 swapped crx and a 350 in a 1940 ford....from the block up....those are the engine builds ive done extensive work on...i have also helped put together numerous others...

according to my thoughts...mercedes - nothing, yellow car - swapped in a 350 that already had motor mounts etc...so basically just a drop in...engine was complete, land rover - nothing, expedition - nothing, mini - nothing, civic- nothing, mustang - i guess a belt......

coop
5th September 2007, 08:27 AM

Mercedes - torque converter, water pump and gas tank

Mazda - yellow car - well the car wasnt yellow, it was grey, then primer, then i painted it, took out that 350, built it to a 357 in high school, the 406 that yes I got from marty then a week later put a new cam in because it ate the one that was in it, clutch and new T5 then new auto tranny swap, 4 rearends, control arms, 2 driveshafts...i could go on and on with that car...

Land rover - intake, valve cover gaskets and water pump

Mini was under warranty, didnt have to do anything, but I do remember doing a supercharger pulley on your mini...I still have that pulley if you want it BTW

Civic - still battling with the AC

Mustang - fuel pump, straighted out the K member that was installed crooked, new tranny pan gasket...

also dont get me started on all the people that ive helped out, including you.

Bobby Light
5th September 2007, 08:55 AM

1971 Jeepster commando - in frame rebuild, new gas tank, fuel pump, transfercase and "custom" tranny mount

no this is the truth...which is funny because it sure does not match yours.

ok whatever.... ill post something...

i rebuilt my engine by myself. i was 18 at the time. i didnt have help. i didnt have training.

i took the the apart. put new pistons rods ect in. put it back together, it ran. it ran well.

eventually the sleeve cracked because i didnt have adequate cooling.
it was my mistake. i should have known better but i taught myself everything i know.

i replaced the head gasket many times, i dont want to say how many because it was too many. i finally realized that it was the block that was cracked.

so i rebuilt the engine. again. by myself. (except i had ryan help me lift the transmission in because i had to remove it. put the clutch in backwards. oops.) other than that i did all the work myself.

it ran. for 24 hours. then the boost controller vacuum line came off. pop.

out of time and out of money i let it sit while i went to school. as everyone knows cars take lots of time and lots of money. i had neither. so i sold it.

i would say the 2 mistakes i made with my car that cost it an engine(inadequate cooling and improper seating of the vacuum line) are hardly enough to say i didnt know what i was doing.

also my toyota....i bought that with a blown engine. for $100. i did the work by myself on that as well.

i do have to give some credit where credit is due however. A few of the hybrid hut supplied assistance during the first engine and turbo install. as well as ben hong. he was there that day (i think it took only 1 day) and phil slept in the backseat.
and i think jim was there also and installed the fuel pump.

good times.

now bash on me some more because i cant afford a car and dont have the time to work on it. sorry im so busy with the rest of my life.

Hell, my first engine only went 15 miles. The lesson learned here is that you shouldn't assemble an engine when your drunk. :shots:
