im fat!!! :(

+1

what sucks is, i can actually blame my back surgery.

i was 180 before my surgery.

my back went out, and i was stuck on a couch for bout 3 months or more. shot up to 215ish by the time everything was said and done.

started getting back to my daily routine and dropped back down to 210 (woohoo right? )

cut pop out and replaced it with iced tea and i dropped from 210 to 190 in like....a month.

then winter hit and i started working at inebraska where i sit on my ass and eat fast food for dinner and now i'm holding steady at about 198 with clothes on.

my goal is to lose 20lbs by may. if i do it sooner, great. i'll keep going til i've lost about 30lbs or so.

I planned on going down friday until we moved all that stuff and I screwed up my knee. It's about 90% today, I think I'll at least go down and sign up today after work, but I probably won't go work out until tomorrow just to make sure I'm fully healed because I'm going to do pretty much only running/biking

they'll just convert ur belly fat into muscle at a slow rate.

dsmdarryl

yeah i guess i don't really care about my weight that much. i've got more muscle on me than it looks. . . so i guess i just want to look like i weigh 185. that's my main fat area is my stomach.

wrong

"targeted weight loss" is a myth. You can't control which fat you burn, you just lose it evenly.

George, the only thing sit ups and crunches do is build muscle. If you don't lose the weight on your stomach, and build muscle, your stomach will actually get larger instead of reducing in size because the extra muscle will push out from behind the fat. To add also, you cannot convert fat into muscle. To lose the belly fat you must do cardio on a regular basis. Also, to effectively lose your fat you have to first deplete your immediate energy stores (i.e. what you just ate) and then continue to do cardio to force your body to use up it's long-term fat storage. So just for the sake of example, if you are full before your cardio/workout, the only thing you are going to do is burn what you just ate, not the fat on your body. I like to run right after work while I am still hungry.

I'm 150 pounds now with a touch over 7 percent body fat. My goal is to put on about another 15 to 20 pounds this year with the majority of that being lean muscle gains.

Eating 6 small meals increases your metabolism rate, thus you burn more energy at all times and lose weight. For someone like myself, I'm slowing my metabolism down by eating 3 large meals so I can also gain a bit of fat. If I didn't, while working out or even staying hungry throughout the day, it would be very easy for me to deplete my fat stores and start tuning muscle into energy. That is extreme, I know, but I've noticed my strength stays with me more after a couple weeks of not lifting as opposed to eating all the time like I did in the past.

It's not that I need to gain weight, it's just that I lift to gain weight only in the form of muscle. The system that I have going for me now is working quite well. I've put on 20 pounds of solid lean muscle in the past several months.

If a person eats a shitload, doesn't run, and just lifts, he'll have a large stomach. Simply put. When you're conditioned and training properly, running has no effect on your ability to gain weight.

lets see thinking back on my timeline of fitness/non fitness...

Highschool - Freshmen-140, Soph-145, Jr-181, Sr-185 (210 During football)

Senior Yr, I could run a 40 in 4.7 and bench 295 Squat somewhere in the 475 range (knee kinda limited that)

Freshmen - Soph year of college stayed fit untill my appendix decided to take a ****, and had then started having trouble with my knee agian, Quit exercising and now im at 247lbs (5'11"), I can still run 3 miles without any issues, and whoop some ass in a drunken wrestling match.

At work they make you take an online health screening along with a physical health screening...well the results of my online one came back and it said that I needed to be between 129-173lbs...and they said my "health age" is that of a 35 year old (if i weighed 173lbs id be skinnier than bugra)...Im gonna take that paper with me during my physical and tell them to stick it in thier ass.

Future plans, looking to get down around 210 before my wedding (4 months), which would put me at a good looking weight for the beach ect...

You can all dissagree with me, but im doing this with 1000 calories per day, and 1.5 hours of heavy physical activity.

so im starting with, 38 inch waist, 52 inch chest, 247 lbs
this is going to suck.

Your body will start literally eating away at your own muscles before it goes into your fat reserves. Thats why when people starve, atrophy occurs and while they are skinny, they will also be damn near frail as glass.

Protein and proper diet. Then you're all fixed up.

If you had any water weight whatsoever, and yes your skinny ass could have, it's gone now. Plus because of your metabolism, with working out and not getting enough nutrients, your body could possibly have been creating energy out of your own muscles after your fat was depleted.

i think i've gone as far as my diet will take me for right now... i'm down to 220 and my gut is the primary source of the weight loss. which is nice.. my pants all fit the same....

My diet... Special K in the morning with a protein drink, and 2 hydroxycut pills.

Lunch- southbeach diet lunchables which are really good. with K20 water all day... String cheese on my breaks (low fat) and some kinda of packaged fruit.

I have a protein drink before dinner with 2 hydroxycuts... i feel fuller before eating and therefore eat less. but i usually eat whatever i want for dinner.

but i have been making my own dinners here and there.. salmon, and other fish, & chicken whenever possible.

Today the scale read an even 220.

tbh i have not kept up my 4500-6k cal diet when i was gaining....and im not on protein or anything other than a multi right now.....

my current weight is 176lbs and seems to have stabilized at that which im happy with.....up 20lbs from this time last year (155lbs).....down 15lbs from december (190lbs - that was a 30lb gain in 3 months)....my body fat is 14% which is the same as it was last year.....i hope to get that to 10% but i dont want to really get on it cuz i dont want to get smaller....i want to stay around 175 and 10% bf.....so eventually another bulk then a good cut....but maybe next fall ill do that

i put 7 inches around my waist in under 2 years.

loseing those 7 inches is taking far longer :(

i would like to note though.. the weight i've lost appears to have come from my stomach... my face and neck hasn't changed much.. my waist is still the same.. but my gut appears to have shrunk..

i would assume the weight loss would be even all through out... i'm not complaining but i'd rather lose some at my waist.

Your caloric intake isn't matched to your training. Either that, or your ass is just plain ****ed.

You're losing fat, and not gaining muscle?

Drink a shake every day. Don't eat fast food to gain weight. You burn it more easily than eating healthily. Bulk up on carbs.

Im starting a new eating habit. Lots of oats in the morning, lots of milk, tuna, fruits and veggies. I need to have my calorie intake be like 2800-3000. I think.
