So it's the blue?

David
20th January 2008, 12:40 AM
Yes... besides the one at the show... the 001 car will have this paint... it will be 1 of 1 as a production car. The ZR1 production numbers are not to exceed more than 2,000 a year. It's also historic because it could be the most powerful vette built for a very long time if not ever with new fuel econ stardards being put in place in the next year or so.. Dont' get me wrong i'm sure it's gonna get "fair" fuel econ.. but even as light as it is... wont' be able to make the standard, atleast not with that much power.

It has a gas guzzler tax. First Vette to have it. I don't think the 1 million mark is anything impressive. Since its for charrity some fat cat just wants to pay as much as possible so he can write it of on his taxes. He problaby would of donated this money anyway, this way he gets a car out of it though. Wooopie.

I'm very impressed on corvette MPG anyways. anything that fast that still gets better than 20 is enough for me.
Fun fact: the Monster garage "dumpster" car (the ford explorer) went for 9,000 the least i've ever seen a car go for.

What's the HIGHEST car on BJ? Who cares about the lowest?

EDIT: Nevermind, I looked it up, it was Carol Shelby's '66 427 Cobra Super Snake. 5 Mill. Holy ****.

I think he's just sore because this will **** all over the new viper. I still love vipers though. Been one of my favorite cars since I was old enough to know what a car was.

I think Dodge should go to Hennessey or Heffner and say, What can you do with an ending product of $100,000? It wouldn't be a 1000hp Monster, But It'd be pretty impressive. Then they need to cut a shitload of weight.

David
20th January 2008, 10:13 AM
Dodge will never catch up... They will always be overweight, overbudget, pigs sliding on and off the tracks, while stairing at the back of the vette from a far off distance.

Uh, the Hennessy TT Viper already puts down over 1000RWHP noobs.

What does it really matter anyway. Not like any of us are ever going to be driving ether one. I more care about the car I actually OWN.

A Shelby CSX prototype went for $8500 this year. That's the lowest figure I've seen at a BJ auction.

I know that, but they're not the same price. The point I was making was for $100,000 what can they do?

What is your point? Dodge doesnt offer a TT production Viper.

So what if an aftermarket company builds high horsepower cars out of a production vehicle. Last I checked Lingenfelter TT corvettes will make just as much hp w/ alot less displacement.

actually that a picture of what the auction car will look like... That car has no vin... or at the very least isn't the one "actually" auctioned off. He bought the rights to the 001 car that will be a duplicate and the only production car with that paint scheme... he can actually go and watch it come off the assembly line and be the first to turn it on..

Speaking of cars being sold:

What does it cost to be the King of the Road? Apparently $605,000 (after auction fees). That's how much Ron Pratte, who seems to be buying just about every Shelby at Barrett-Jackson, paid for the right to own the very first 2008 Shelby GT500 KR Glass Roof. That will only last for a while, though, since at least 999 more KR's will be built and are currently being assembled at the Shelby plant in Las Vegas. Numero uno features a black-on-black paint scheme that looks stunning in person, as well as a glass roof option that won't be available for the rest of production. As usual, Carroll Shelby was on hand to send the car off, reminding buyers why they are paying this much money for a Mustang. All the proceeds from the sale went to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, so it's all for a good cause.

I was actually there Wendsday night and saw a bunch of the Monster garage cars go across the block. WHAT A BUNCH OF PIECES OF **** THEY WERE!!
Seriously they MG cars were the most **** poor engineered ad executed cars I've ever seen, you see better cars in a Carter Lake trailer park. The paint on the walls of my house literally have a better finish than the cars. I think they put a ton of metalflake in every car so they would sparkle on camera. The only reason some of them sold for more then 10k was that they had descent engines in them and could be transplanted.

The crowd literally cheered when they announced that the monster garage cars had concluded. Then they sold the 71 Toring 428 CJ for $100,000

The ZR1 is pretty basass though, so was the '63 Italian Vette concept car.

Never liked them either. But for 7 days to be from design to build, plus being built by bunch of no namers. Yea i agree **** cars.

What did you really expect from the Monster Garage cars? They were drawn up on paper in a day and built in a week! You expect perfection from something like that that is mostly built from junk?

No No No, don't get me wrong the execution was allright, but you watch the TV show and they looked good, paint and all, when you see them in person it's a bit dissapointing. Like the Hot Dog cart, that actually was descent, but they cut up and old rail to make it. Or the pasta ferarri, once was a sweet sports car, now cut to pieces. It makes you wonder what better could have been done with some of the cars.

Plus every show I saw they were always painted after the build was done so they shouldn't have been in a rush. But the paint was hidious.

I guess the one night I went to BJ I wanted to see something a little more 'special' than the MG cars sale.

I don't know why the monster garage cars were at Barret Jackson, it just isn't the right place to sell them.

I have nothing against them, I think some of them are rather impressive, however they definitely aren't polished show cars that normally sell at BJ.

Given 7 days, a few thousand dollars, and a ridiculous goal, I don't think any of us could pull it off better than monster garage, I just think they should sell the cars on eBay rather than at BJ.

95gsx
23rd January 2008, 01:52 PM
well BJ was pretty much a waste this year minus a few expensive rare cars, the place was just not as good as past years which might be said for the lack of good cars to sell now days. People buy the million dollar cars and they don't want to get rid of them. Kinda of like when i saw a 4th gen with 20's roll on to stage i laughed and turned the channel. its loosing its prestige
