this ought to settle the debate and hopefully i wont have to see anything else about it.

you can pretty much count on it to come up like LS1's and 32v's for a good while. no poll can kill the Blu ray
learn it, live it, love it.... blu ray for life.

And where is the regular dvd player option at?

The haters will outweight the people that will actually make a informed and educated decision. So HD DVD will probably win this poll.

This is what Micheal Bay just said whne he found out about Warner going blu.
Bay:
Well another studio down. Maybe I was right? Blu ray is just better. HD will die a slow death. It's what I predicted a year ago. Now with Warner's down for the count with Blu Ray. That makes it easier for Wal-Mart to push Blu Ray. And whatever Wal-Mart pushes - wins. Hd better start giving out those $120 million dollars checks to stay alive. Maybe they can give me some so I can give it to my Make-A-Wish charity, just to shut me up. Have faith people Transformers will come out in Blu-ray one day!

From a technology standpoint, I think blu-ray has a very slight edge over HD-DVD simply in the fact that it has a larger capacity disk. That may not be being fully utilized yet, but in the future it could be used for more content or higher resolution video.
The slight technological difference aside, as somebody who will be using HD technology in the future, I have to ask myself, do I really want Sony to have control over the content, the media, and the hardware to play it?
Sony having so much power could work out fine, but given Sony's history I wouldn't count on the consumer being a top priority. If it does happen, only time will tell...

Cotnerdude
5th January 2008, 11:31 AM
I am going to stick with regular DVD until Blu ray starts to become better and really start to take the lead. Blu ray will use there higher resolution video. But right now it is pretty much the same as HD DVD. I am thinking I will have the PS3 around June to be honest.

I don't understand how you can know me so well, but still believe that.
Blu-ray doesn't have higher resolution video than HD-DVD :Hammer:
Anyway, if HD-DVD becomes the new format it won't be Microsoft in control of everything. It will be all the exact same companies it is now.

I own a hddvd player right now, you find me a bluray player that does 1080p and dolby truehd via optical out for 200 or less ill buy it too.
I think hddvd has taken a big blow tho with Warners switch to bluray only, we'll see. The CEO of warner truely believes this may end the battle... i think it might. We'll see.

worst statement evar. seriously theres no way you could think that future data will always be able to fit on a bluray disk. if the past has shown us anything, blurays lifespan will be 10 years max if i were to guess..... this is assuming it becomes the dominate format. there will be other storage formats, i would assume in disc form... however that might change as well.

blu ray could be one of the last storage disc.
If you leave it that short you can interpret that sentence a number of ways. The way I and several other people interpreted it was that you believed Blu-ray had the lasting power to be the last storage device ever used.
Now that I see you getting upset and read through it a few more times I realize that if you emphasize the "disk" part of it, then you could be saying that in the future disks of any kind won't be used as storage.
And dave, shut up, you replied to my misinterpretation of his post as if you didn't even notice it yourself. Obviously there is no way to prove that you had made the same mistake, but you would think that instead of arguing with me you would have called me out on it since you're always so quick to do so, which you didn't.
Anyway David. Now that I realize what you meant to say I agree completely. I always thought disks were stupid to begin with. They are easily damaged and take up too much space. Sure a CD/DVD/Blu-ray isn't that big by its self, but the cases you put them in are. Once other technology becomes as cheap to produce as disks they will be gone.

First you misinterpret what david said, and said that 20 years ago it was impossible to store 1 gig.
i showed you what a gig looked like 20 years ago. (until the link stoped working)
you realize you misinterpret what david said.
david says you reply too fast and dont think, i agree.
this is where the logic becomes so bat **** crazy, no one would understand.
although my presentation of a gig 20 years ago was 100% accurate. and it proved you wrong; somehow you think that because you could not comprehend what david wrote, that was i said was wrong too.
so you were 100% incorrect on 2 issues. i corrected you on 1 of those. my statement was 100% correct.
but youre saying im 100% incorrect because you were 100% incorrect and i only corrected you on 50% of your mistakes.

I think you need to read a bit more carefully. I said IF YOU ASKED somebody 20 years ago what a gigabyte was most people wouldn't have any idea, and nobody would BELIEVE that we would ever need that much space. I was simply making a comment because when I wrote that I believed David was being incredibly narrow minded.

It's almost worth getting an HD DVD player still, or the player for the 360 at least. HD DVD's are DIRT CHEAP on Amazon, and there are alot of good movies on HD DVD that aren't on Blu Ray. For example, the Matrix Trilogy and Bourne Trilogy. The 360 players are around $35 on Amazon right now, and just as cheap on ebay, so it's almost worth the price...

Actually, I believe I've admitted I've been wrong quite a few times. It doesn't always change my stance on whatever issue may be being discussed, but it happens. If anybody, you are the one that's always right. Every thread where you debate, you are right, no matter what it is. I've seen you come up with some of the most absolutely ridiculous illogical arguments ever to prove your point. Whenever somebody actually stands up to you on an issue, it blows up to a million posts, and you usually end up going completely off topic, bumping other threads, or creating new related threads in an attempt to prove the person wrong about anything that may or may not be at all related to the debate, because as we've already seen, you think that makes you right....just look at this thread.
