View Full Version : Welding lift blocks

I've been looking at lift kits for my 99 Ram 1500 and most of the kits I'm finding have blocks for the rear. The only problem I have is that my truck came with 3.5" lift blocks from the factory. I read on another site about a guy welding his old blocks to the new ones together to make a 6.5" block. It sounds like a bad idea to me but has anybody here seen this or done this?

Just buy a 5 or 6 inch lift block. Posted via Mobile Device

I'll probably just end up buying stuff seperate and just getting 3" AAL for the rear and new coils for the front but I was just asking because all the kits I'm finding have the blocks instead of the AAL.

If you have to run blocks (e.g. being a cheap ass like me), do this^ The 5" block is not that expensive. Regarding the height, I'm pretty sure factory block is 3".
Check out TopGunCustomz for Ram lift parts.

I did see a kit for this too. Definitely something I'll consider.

IIRC The shackle flip nets 5" of lift, and you need a zero rate block to adjust the angle of the rear end. The five inch lift in the rear might lead to a long arm setup in front.

No problem, they are a sponsor on the DodgeTalk forums, and people seem to really like them.

Their lift kits seem really cheap on ebay. I just got a 3" lift with shocks for $180 after shipping. I hope the quality is decent. I'm sure its not going to be top of the line stuff but I hope it last awhile.

No it has the blocks but when I get it I'm going to put them together with my stock blocks to get the size I need and order a set of taller blocks

5 inch+ lift blocks. Enjoy the axle wrap and the wheel hop. Better check your pinion angle when you get it all put together. Might need a tapered block to not spit out u joints.

I know blocks aren't the best but i know plenty of people who have them and don't have issues.

I had 4" blocks on my '94 2500 Dodge. You could feel the rear end shudder.

People who don't have issues with lift blocks don't actually need a lift.
