View Full Version : Tuttle Trip 1/15/2012

regal403
8th January 2012, 06:54 PM
Having just received a call from both Martin and Mother Nature, I have taken it upon myself to compose this post while pooping with my iPad.
The weather looks clear for next weekend, and it has been entirely too long since several of the full-size GM boys have made a trip down south for some off road shenanigans. How does next Sunday sound to you all?
I was thinking we could meet up and leave Lincoln around 7 or so and get to Tuttle at 915-930 or whatever. The high should be near 40 that day.
Thoughts?

Hillbilly
8th January 2012, 06:57 PM
make it loose for the following weekend, incase.

regal403

Or we can postpone until January 22nd if Hillbilly hasn't got his **** together by this Sunday.

Hillbilly
8th January 2012, 06:59 PM
I am going to try real hard but no promises.

Maybe someone needs to come help me with exhaust and motor mounts.

I drove my hunk of **** home tonight, so hopefully it is ready to go.

Martin

I've never been to Tuttle but have always wanted to go. Would a stock 99 Ram 1500 even be worth taking down there?

toom1h
9th January 2012, 06:39 AM
No

jlah69
9th January 2012, 07:22 AM
What would you think i'd need as far as tire size and lift to be worth going down there. I've seen pics of what seemed to be fairly stock trucks and jeeps down there.

82355
9th January 2012, 09:43 AM
You could try it, but you might have to take the easier trails. Do you have a rear posi?

Martin

jlah69
9th January 2012, 09:53 AM
Yea the rear is posi and I have aggressive all terrains.

Hillbilly
9th January 2012, 10:07 AM
How afraid of denting it are you? Scratches? Is this a "nice" truck?

82355
9th January 2012, 10:11 AM
You can sure try.

Martin

jlah69
9th January 2012, 11:12 AM
Its in pretty good shape but I won't want to smash it up bad but scratches don't bother me.

Hillbilly
9th January 2012, 11:25 AM
I just mean I have the same dent in 2 trucks where the tree stopped me from rolling over. Not a bad dent but one none the less. We could pry avoid them but it is easier not to care.

sn95.0
9th January 2012, 11:47 AM
John, you old man signed the title in the wrong spot for the truck so im probably going to have to run down there some time.

Hillbilly
9th January 2012, 11:56 AM
I can PM you his number.

82355
9th January 2012, 03:38 PM
If you are afraid of dents and scratches, you may want to go with the Jeep guys instead of the Chevy guys.

Martin

BS_z28
9th January 2012, 04:41 PM
Is it a problem that I still have open diffs?

I have made arrangements for this coming weekend. John, get off your butt and get your truck ready. It's a Chevy, You're talking about 20 minutes worth of work. What are you doing Wed? I'm off in the afternoon and could help if necessary.

Have you lost my phone number? 729 7482 just in case.

Marty I know you are probably driving something with a back seat or two, any room?

fmstruck
9th January 2012, 09:51 PM
I may even have a seat CJ. Depends on whether or not Doug goes with me. I can't imagine every seat being full.

350-10

I'd be down for an open seat, since I should sell the tahoe instead of breaking it.

Marty said he may try to bring down both the CA K5 and the Burban if he can find enough drivers/beer.

46 and mostly sunny is the forecast. Let's do this.
Is my idea of leaving Lincoln at 7 too early or too late? I don't want to be there when it's super cold and dark.
We can just convoy down from here, meeting Hillbilly and Jake at Tuttle. Let's meet at the McDonald's on Sun Valley and West O, since their sausage biscuits and peppermint mochas make for a lovely breakfast.
Also that is close to my house and US 77.

Jake, Darrel has a K30 now but no lift or tire. Infact he keeps trying to sell it to me. Jake, I am going to Lincoln to look at Wades truck tonight and give him a 1/2 ton drive shaft. I plan on working on it thur/friday and maybe Sat morning. I need to put in plugs, route plug wires, Pvc, install driveshaft, build exhaust, fill LPG, load on trailer.

Definite Maybe

Marty's CA K5 + passenger(s?)
Baker's Chevy K15 + ?
Kyle J's Baby **** Jeep
Paul's [ed. "soon to be"] Topless Explorer + passengers

Hillbilly's K30 + ?
Jake in Mystery Machine + passenger

Possibly Maybe:

jlah69's 1500 Ram
350-10's Tahoe
shaggy's Pathfinder
Kelvin in c0z's Samurai
Wade's K10
HINZ28 in Seth Carpenter's 4runner

I'm in the **** house now. We were supposed to be back to Lincoln so I could go to the first lamaze class at 6:00, but we're still on the road, 20 miles south of Lincoln. First Baker blew a tire off the bead, then we waited in the parking lot to return the spare we were carrying to its owner, then we had to wait for four, yes four, Jeeps to air up their tires in Randolph, then we had to slow down for a controlled ditch burn, then we had to wait for a ****ing train in Marysville. Meanwhile, back in Lincoln Jess couldn't get my car alarm to shut off, was upset that I was going to be quite late, couldn't find the correct building for the class, and is none too pleased with yours truly for being late.
I tell ya, it feels like the universe just did not want us to go to this class tonight.
