if anyone cares:
you have to get permission from a judge in the county that you got a ticket
you have to take a class once permission is received
you also have to do 10 hours of community service

Why bother? Just pay the fine, it won't show up on your DMVR here in Nebraska. No affect on your record or insurance. Hibs and I were coming back from Detroit about 10 yrs ago and I got popped doing 97 in a 65 near Iowa City, payed the fine and it never showed up on my DMVR.

How does that work with ticket info and state lines? Do any out of state tickets not show up on your records in your home state?

Not true, i had a couple speeding tickets which were both in Missouri. They both showed up on my record.

Certain states dmv's communicate while others dont.

I have no idea. All I know is that some states have agreements with each other while others don't. I believe there was a thread awhile back with more info on this.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but lets say you have All State or any other national insurance agency. All State has offices in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, etc. You would think they could get the information on you in every state since they have offices in every state which communicate with each state's DMV.
Just my thoughts, but don't know if its true.

Good point. But I did a little research and the states that communicate are all a part of the "Drivers License Compact and/or Non-resident violator Compact". If they aren't a part of those compacts than the ticket won't follow you. And some states that are a part of the compacts have certain stipulations for the ticket to follow, like it having to be a 10+ speeding ticket for it to follow etc.

The ticket was 181 dollars, if the class is even half that its worth it for me.

181 is worth it? Seriously That is only a 12 hour day at $15 an hour. My time is worth far more than that.

As DMVs and police agencies upgrade their networks, information sharing is becoming easier and easier. Insurance companies also have additional resources at their disposal to catch you. It's best to assume everyone will know than think you are getting one up on the system.

I don't get paid $15 an hour, so yes, its worth it. That's 2 10 hour days for me.

You really should look at getting a better job and maybe a chevy, with a carb. Then you won't get any tickets but impeading traffic.

I was court ordered the star class, it was only $70. The ticket was Dam near $400. So It was well worth it for me to take the 8 hour class

I got a speeding ticket in Kansas once when I was not driving. It showed up on my record, and my insurance.

Maybe things have changed since 10 yrs ago, but that was my experience with a ticket in IOWA. Not Missouri, or Kansas, or Florida or some other state that wasn't mentioned in the OP's thread.

I'll call my insurance and ask. Still would rather take the class.
