View Full Version : No plate ticket

I got a ticket for not having my front plate on. I usually have it on, but I was heading up to the Wednesday Sonic/DQ meet up in Bromaha and decided to take it off.. Whats the best way to go about getting it dropped? The cop was an asshole.. I told him I was waiting for an adapter piece for my mount. Showed it to him and whatnot. Anywho, should I go talk to the attorney or should I go to court? Id rather just do the attorney thing. That sounds quicker and easier. Is there anyway to go about what to say to him/her? I had my plate off for 1 day and I got a ticket. I really dont want to pay it, lol.

Go in and tell them that you took it off for a car show and forgot to put it back on.

Or just own up to it like a man and pay it. Its your own fault.

I realize its my fault. I shouldnt have taken it off right away. But I just dont want to pay it. The cop was a **** and acted like my rear license plate cover kills and rapes small children..
Zach, I already told the cop I was waiting for an adapter and that I ordered it off Ebay. He could tell I was lying.

It's not just a fix it ticket? I have been pulled over at least 10 times and it has always been a fix it. Go it prove you have a plate and done.

Who cares about the cop. I would still go in and tell the attorney you fixed it and they would probably drop it.

If it's a fix it ticket, take the car to a sheriff and have him sign off on it with the plate on. If its a ticket, take a picture of the car with the plate on and tell the city attorney its fixed. They should drop it.

Ya, state patrol. He pulled me over and I was like wtf am I getting pulled over for?! Anywho, he comes up and asked for my license and whatnots. So I ask, So, what did you pu- He interrupts me and says in a cocky **** tone, We will get to that in a minute. I was like, wtf did he think I did?!

I have noticed, cops are dicks to me a lot more in the M3. Ill get pulled over for changing a lane too fast, or going around a slow person and the cop threatens to give me a negligent or something for swerving in and out of traffic. Im like, seriously?!

Just go to the city attorney, they will more than likely drop it. I have had 2 of mine dropped, know tons of other people who have had them dropped.

Go to the attorney and stick with your original story, and show a pic of it fixed it should get dropped. Otherwise just pay it it's not worth the time for a $73 ticket.

these are the stupidest ****ing tickets of all time, I got one the day I got my intercooler on and I was out driving around with the bumper half ass installed. It went from being pulled over for no front plate to having a ticket for 15% window tint I had no idea I had. Two fix it tickets AND two legit tickets. wtf
Biggest lazy mistake of all time

Yeah, I remember that time I drove a car from L.A. to Chitown with a broken head light because the guy paid me $40,000. I felt like I didn't have enough time to stop to put a new one on, let alone to go the speed limit. Spending 3 years in prison in Iowa all becasue of a stupid burned out headlight and going 15 over the speed limit...oh there was the 150lb of meth in the back but I didn't know about that. THAT's the biggest lazy mistake of all time.

As for the plate thing, yea you thought you could get away with it, so far I have. The state troopers are the only ones that seem to give a ****.
I always get a fix it ticket though :D

What ever happened to that law that the cop had to get you for a moving violation before he could pull you over? That a plate or light out didn't count. I know they can get you for that stuff during the click it or ticket week and of course at any road blocks/checkpoints. I'm looking but I can't seem to find the law. I have looked for 45 mins and can't seem to find anything on the validity of the initial traffic stop.
I know that is the law in South Dakota. I got out of my last ticket there for that reason. It cost me more in time/$$$ to get out of it than if I would have just paid it. But I was about the principle of it.

THEY CAN NEVER PULL YOU OVER FOR A SEAT BELT! It is a secondary offence. That click it or ticket **** is a scare tactic.

Like hillbilly said, there are primary and secondary offenses. Seat belts (unless the party without the seat belt is under 6 years old), Visual Obstructions hung from the mirror (fyi...now anything hung from the mirror is illegal. New bill passed a couple weeks ago), and texting are all examples of secondary offenses. No plate(s), broken lights, tint, along with any moving violation are examples of primary offenses.

The no front plate crap is just good probable cause. NSP is big on it because they're always looking for big drug seizures. That's how you get funding increases for the next fiscal year.

So if my friend was pulled over for a lanyard in his mirror two years ago by NSP, that would be complete BS correct?

I just thought it was ghey because I always have it on. But 15 minutes after I take it off I get a ticket for it while everyone else rocks no plate for years, lol. Anywho, I went into the county attorney and he dropped it. I showed him a picture of the car with it back on. The original reason he pulled me over though was for the 'obstructed rear license plate' since I had a tinted shield on it. Apparently he thought I didnt have any plates at first. NSP seem to be the douchey cops.

You would have to look up what the law was at that time. Its bounced back and forth a few times on what law makers have considered a visual obstruction. It used to be anything, but then they said air fresheners and the like didn't count, now its anything again
