Im in need of renewing my driver license. My "home" address is in Omaha, but I currently live in Lincoln. Am I able to still go to the DMV here in Lincoln and renew my driver license with an Omaha address and keep the Omaha address? ive done some poking around on the DMV's website and have yet to find a response, all i have found is you can renew 90 days before it is up. I would call the DMV but they are currently closed

You need to have your current address on your license... So wherever you 'live'

I still call my parents house 'home' but my address is where I live. I dont see why the Lincoln DMV would give you an Omaha license.

I would say, youd have to go back to Omaha.

just wasnt sure since its a nebraska DMV, didnt think it would be to hard for them to scan the back of my license, pull up my info and renew it. guess that would be too easy for them to do.

When my then fiancee lived in Lincoln and had her home address in Millard, she was told she could not renew her license in Lincoln so she had to go up to Millard to do it. Hope that helps.

You can renew it in whatever county you want to as long as you can produce the required documentation.

Joe, that's odd that they would tell her that. My brothers had no trouble at all getting thier licenses renewed in Lancaster instead of Saunders County.

Correct. The Nebraska DMV is the Nebraska DMV. Not the Douglas county, Lancaster county, or whatever county DMV.

I just wanted to avoid an unneeded trip to Omaha if i could. I guess i will just have to give the DMV a call tomorrow when they are open and see.

Why would you want to keep homaha as your home address?

Why should he change all of his information over to his temporary student address? It is probably much simpler for him to leave his permanent residence as his parents' house in Omaha than changing it every time he moves while he's going to school. That's how a lot of people do it.

Because if he has established residency elsewhere he has only a couple months to change his license until its a license violation. Your license is where you have established residency. If you are living in a dorm for college and a full time student, you are fine using your omaha address. But if you are living in a house or less than full time you need to change your address on your license to technically "obey" the law
