If you get your license taken away from getting for too many points, do you lose your license for 3 years for the first offense?

uh oh

I haven't lost it yet haha. If I get another ticket I probably will though.

I am wondering if I should take the class to get a few points back now or should I save it for if I do get it taken away. Someone told me that if I get it taken away you can take the ADD driving class or something and get a few points back, then get your license back also?

Another question... Do you get your points back after 2 or 3 years from the date of the offense?

Thanks

Defensive driving class, gives you back 2 points. I took mine when I was about to lose it. And its the accumulation of 12 points in 2 years.

I would go sign up for/take defensive driving.

I would definitely take the class to get back a couple so that you have some cushion.

I believe that in incorrect. Once you are to the point that you lost your license you cannot take the defensive driving class in hopes of getting it back.

I know I'm a little late on this thread, but I just wanted to point that out. If you are able to take the course I'd hurry up and get it done before you get caught just bangin' gears or something and lose your license for 6 months.

If lose my again before 11/21/11 itll be for 15 years.. Ive already had the 6 months and the 3 years thing. But I think I only have 3 points against my license, so im good :D

Well I just read the paper and it says:

ADD is focused on the following categories of violators:
1. Repeat Traffic Violators: whose point losses could result in loss of their licence and productivity
2. Suspended/Revoked Drivers
3. First-Time Violators:
4. First-Time DUI/DWI
5. Minor-in-Possession
6. DUS (Driving under suspension)

Its $60 and is only worth 2 points but I need to do it anyways.

Wait, so that is saying that you can take the course if you currently lost your license?

Damn this just made me wonder if i've got my points back! Yep the DMV site says "You have no points assessed against your license/privilege to drive"!!!!
