got pulled over for speeding(he told me he didnt get me on radar) and "sliding around a culdesac" from GIs finest.

received a ticket for careless driving and obstructed license plate.

its snowing, his plate was also completely covered with snow. i played cat and mouse with him for an hour all over town before i finally got a good picture of the snow covering his plate.

proof that it was snowing and that simply driving around on the unplowed streets causes the plate to be covered in snow that is stirred up.

Only reason I could see to give a careless driving ticket is if there were cars parked in the culdesac. If no cars were present, a simple 'keep it under control, buster' would have been appropriate.

it was a culdesac with an island in the middle of it. had i been doing anything but turning around i would have hit a curb seeing as how i have an extended cab chevy pickup. i turned down it cause i didnt know the neighborhood. there were no cars and no houses, it is an area that is not yet developed.

Careless is $100 fine, right? I don't know obstructed plate off the top of my head, but I think its like $10. I would say take it to court. You probably wont get out of the ticket, but at the very least I bet the obstructed plate is dismissed. In traffic court, if you have multiple offenses, i would say 9/10 times they will dismiss one, if not all, the minor offenses if you plead to the greater one.

I don't think that's what he's saying. He's saying that his plate was covered because of the moisture in the snow, it sticks to everything. Not really something he can control.

careless is 4 points, there is no way that is justified. ive been to traffic court more than once in my day.

EVEN IF i was sliding around like he said i was a 4 point ticket does not justify it. I was not sliding around when he saw me.

correct. i could understand if he pulled me over today after it snowed yesterday and all the streets are clear today. it was still snowing when he cited me and none of the streets had been cleared.

when i got home i looked at my plate and it was completely covered again.

damn, i slide all over the place for fun during the winter. you got screwed!

how about that pic of the cops plate?

i would go to court, something like a 50% chance the cop wont show up and you will get out of it. if he does show up there is a decent chance you can talk your way out of it. hell it was snowing and you had to do a u turn. didn't mean to slide. then bust out the pic of the cops plate. sounds like fun to me.

pretty sure they didn't add an exception clause to the law... I could be wrong though.

Part of radar certification is being trained in speed estimation. Although you can not be cited for speeding without a measuring instrument, visual speed estimation along with sliding around gives you careless driving. Now I don't know what you did or didn't do, nor do I care either way. Just letting you know what you are looking at. My suggestion is to take it to court. You don't lose anything by going to court. See if grand island has something equivalant to omahas negligent driving. Its a 3 point offense. Plead to that if possible.

i know what im looking at and i dont want a plea deal.

he followed me around for an hour after the stop, the whole time i used my turn signal, always came to a complete stop, and never exceeded the speed limit. im going to make this part of his testimony at the trial.

I don't see how that is relevant to helping your case, unless you are going with "he had it in for me" or something. That's just speculation and I can't see how that would help.

That being the case, an hour? Why didn't you just stop somewhere after five minutes?

i did stop, so did he, and then he continued to follow me.

You are required to yes. It has been my experience that people that take the time to get a ccw permit are easy to deal with.
