I have a 69 3/4 ton 4x4 and I'm upgrading it a little. As of right now it has a 292 4-speed and the most ghetto rigged tcase set up ever. I have a 350 I'd like to put in it. I also have a 700r4 I'd like to use. It's out of a typhoon awd so I'd like to think I could bolt something up to it? A 205? What do you guys suggest? I use to know quite a bit of this **** but I've forgot alot over the years. I'm not against using a turbo 400 either. The truck orginally had a pto on it and if anyone has one I'd love to put one back on it... Let me know any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks and sorry so long.

I will once I get it more torn apart. I'm just trying to figure out what dirrection to go with it. The truck will also have Dana 60f/14r. And more then likely h1 hummer tires.

It needs rebuilt and isn't in the best shape. I guess I shouldn't of claimed it's a 4 speed because I'm not sure it is. I need to look into whats really there still

205 adapters to 400s or 700s aren't that common. What are you doing with this truck? I would just use a 208 but I am cheap.

slownova

I'm cheap to. I'm just using it sometimes as a work truck and a beater. It has what I can gather 2 transfer cases. It has one shifter by the tranny shifter and one almOst in the back of the cab. I looked under it shortly but I want to get into the truck before I decide what it is. It's from one of our farms so I can only imagine my cousins cobbled together the most ghetto **** ever lol

I knew that was going to happen. That's why I didn't admit to what I got just yet lol. I'm tearing the truck apart and I'll update it with pics. I promise it's not as cool as it sounds.

So someone doubled a regular 205 with a divorced 205? Why would you change that? 1 to 1-2 to 1 and 4 to 1. Just pull the 292 and bolt up the 350.

slownova

If that's what they did I will be extremely impressed. My guess is it's a 205 and then a tcase off a dodge or ford whatever was laying around.

Dodge and Ford both used NP205's as well.

I could use some better pictures of the transmission and the front of the transfer case, but yeah, that is an NP205.

Yea I need to get it into the shop and get better pics. I don't get what that lever on the side of the tranny is, but I can't get all that good of a look at it

It is a pto. Has a shaft that goes all the way to the back of the truck! Score.

Is there some sort of throttle or brake lock for PTO use?

slownova
1st March 2011, 09:14 PM
Like a parking brake? Yes. Maybe hand throttle to. I'm trying To figure this thing out.

regal403
1st March 2011, 09:16 PM
Like a line lock.

slownova
1st March 2011, 09:17 PM
No why?

regal403
1st March 2011, 09:20 PM
Just curious if it had one.

slownova
1st March 2011, 09:21 PM
What makes you ask if it has a line lock?

2nd March 2011, 12:09 AM
A lot of straight trucks have a "line lock" for when you are running the PTO to raise the box.

Martin

slownova
2nd March 2011, 12:14 AM
It's not for a dump box. My guess is a water pump like a firetruck. Can't say out of the 18 trucks with pto's that we have had any have a line lock to lock the from wheels.

I am talking grain trucks.

Ah makes sense. I'm starting to get more time with this thing so I'm figuring more out.

regal403

I suppose most of the time the PTO was designed to be engaged, fairly level ground was assumed. Maybe the parking brake would be sufficient.
