The factory recomends never exceding 55 MPH, I usually keep it at 55-60. I wouldnt go any higher than that cause i've heard stories of transfer cases grenading due to high speed. I'm sure with newer trucks thats not necessarily true anymore, but for that truck I would stick to lower speeds.

The speed limit is posted on the right side of the road. The reflective signs are a white background with black lettering and a black border. The law does not change based on the transfer case someone's vehicle may or may not be equiped with.

I have done well over 80+ with a 208 & 241 in 4 hi and 5000+ rpms in drive in 4 low (what ever that equals). Quit being pussies they will handle it. I suppose you stop to pull them into 4 HI too. Have you girls ever even driven off a gavel road with a truck?

I just dont feel safe doing it, and yes I stop whenever I throw it in 4HI. It's also what both my '84 GMCs and '90 GMCs manual said so I would rather keep my T-case in one piece. I wouldn't be worried if I had a 205 case though cause those are bulletproof.
U mad?

Beat the **** out of it. They are cheap, plentiful, and easy to fix.

Not my truck, and I'd rather not have to fix it. I've got my own truck to fix if I get the inclination.

I Had a blazer that I could do 40 or so in low with a 205. I had 35 inch tires and 308 gears. It would get right up there in a hurry. This was without the front hubs locked of course.

Another question: When should the front engage? I can shift it into 4wd at 35, but to get the actuator to engage I have to slow down/stop. Reverse usually makes it go in as well. Is this just the actuator sticking? Or normal operation?

I usually stop when I engage it. And you have to have it in neutral or park before it fully engages.

It should go right in once the clay (or whatever it is) expands enough. I would pull mine at any speed and it would go right in. Of course mine had the new style actuator. You don't have to stop to pull it into 4 hi.

I don't have to stop to pull the transfer case in, but the diff doesn't always engage right away. Weak actuator?

Could be, my 90 3/4 ton had one go bad and even the new one was kinda slow.
