I called this well over a month ago... KU is a good team... just not a great team... played a weak schedule and got lucky... argue all you want... look at who they have played.. it's not as bad as HI schedule... but it sure wasn't a rough road up til this point.
dunnster76
24th November 2007, 11:15 PM
Kansas had a bad game ... they missed 2 field goals ... that would have changed the outlook of the game, plus the interception on the 2 yard line, all sorts of missed opportunities to score. I wouldn't call them getting lucky, the earned their #2 spot and played a good Mizzou team who is deserving of where they get. Both are great teams and the game could have gone either way.

Dennis Dixon is in the heisman race only because other great talents have been inconsistent this year, there are many players that are much better than him, but their teams haven't helped them and they have struggled because of it.
You wish..next time you go in for a "burn" atleast spell it right..... there isn't a team in the big 12 that could even keep up with that team with dixon on the feild... Everyone looks good beating up retards like nebraska.
Just an FYI... KS had the 96 easiest schedule out of 120.
David
24th November 2007, 11:28 PM
as for the rest of your comment... no they got lucky.. they had a soft schedule and excuted it well. Mizz had the 37th hardest schedule... you can talk KS up all you want... Like i said a good month ago... they'd lose to a real team.
dunnster76
24th November 2007, 11:40 PM
Dennis Dixon isn't in the Heisman race because of injury now ... it's all him, not his team.
As far as Kansas, they're still a great team, they have talent, they just didn't get to showcase it as much as they could have with a tougher schedule. They didn't have the benefit of being challenged much, but they still will beat their bowl opponent, I guarantee that. Yeah Mizzou gets the credit for beating Kansas, but Kansas pretty much beat themselves, too many errors and missed opprotunities. Both teams are great teams, but someone has to come out a loser.
Oh ... and there's at least 3 teams in the Big XII that would slaughter Oregon with a healthy Dixon ... Kansas, Mizzou and Oklahoma.
David
24th November 2007, 11:44 PM
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH you have never watched a Oregon game then or you are just trying to poke at me... either way your wrong..
dunnster76
24th November 2007, 11:59 PM
I watched several Oregon games ... yeah they can score with Dixon, but so can all three teams I listed, they could go into a shootout with Oregon and score point for point, but I think all 3 have a better defense.
Oregon ... 71st in total defense .... (through Nov. 17th)
Kansas ... 8th
Oklahoma ... 24th
Mizzou ... 57th
Offense ...
Oregon ... 5th
Kansas ... 7th
Oklahoma ... 17th (Nebraska was 16th R0FL!)
Mizzou ... 4th
Offensive stats are a little skewed with Dixon out a few games causing the offensive ranking to suffer a little, but still, all 2 offenses are comparable, with maybe the exception of Oklahoma, but they still put points up on the board this proves it ...
Scoring offense ...
1. Hawaii
2. Kansas
3. Boise St.
4. Oklahoma
5. Florida
6. Missouri
7. Texas Tech
8. Oregon
David
25th November 2007, 12:06 AM
but you didn't take into account strength, and like you said numbers are all ****ed up... with now 2 games without dixon.
There is a reason oregon with a lost was ranked above KS.
You do realize you are arguing that the Big 12 is the toughest and that all 3 of those teams are basically a tie for national champion.

I do think the Big XII was a lot tougher than most conferences including the Pac 10 this year.
SOS ...
37th -- Missouri - 5.46375
39th -- Oregon - 5.49259
71st -- Oklahoma -5.88629
96th -- Kansas - 6.28564
So by those stats ... Mizzou would beat Oregon ... better SOS, total defense, total offense and scoring offense.

No ... I'm still realistic ... Kansas lost, they drop.
My list is as follows ...
1 - Mizzou
2- West Virginia
3- Ohio State
4- Georgia
5- Oklahoma
About Nebraska, yeah Callahan is gone, but that doesn't make the team any better at this moment, they need a coach ... we still don't know the new coach.

I could bench this out for you but honestly your like of understanding of football outside the big 12 is absent. With that said it's like talking to a wall... when you wake up and realize that this are states outside the big 12 that play football and play it way better then we can have a worth while conversation. You talk up miz. but you were so confident that KS was going to going to beat em... I could without a doubt predict the outcome of this game long ago...
The fact that oregon can't score without dixion isn't sad... thats just how well of a leader/factor he is... you have some lame idea inside your head that lineman should get trophies at the end of the year... You have 0 appreciation for key players and their roles/respect they command on a field... I connect this to your big 12 hard on.
lets elaborate for just a second... Mizz is now your favorite for the big 12... wasn't that way 8 hours ago but whatever... bandwagon comes around these parts alot lately... :rolleye: their ranked teams consisted of nebraska 25, A&M 24, OK 6, & KS2. They lost to Ok... so as far as beating top ranked teams they have only beat one... KS was even easier... they played 2 ranked teams.. KS State 24 and lost to Mizz. Wow.:bow1:.. what a ****ing powerhouse
OR. Had 3 ranked games. All of which were 12 and lower... Lost to #6 CA, beat 12 USC, & #4 AZ.
If you can't understand how a good QB makes the difference in a team your hopeless.

ya.. it's only cool to like a team when they are kicking ass... if the **** hits the fan you should abandon them.... :bolt:
btw.. i'm not butt hurt.... when dixon went down... everyone knew the season was over unless their backup came out and filled his very hard to fill shoes... well he didn't... So losing is expect... it's kinda like nebraska.. but with having the actual potiental of winning.

Well ... first off, I'm nowhere near a bandwagon fan ... Nebraska is still my one and only favorite team, the rest of the Big XII north will follow depending on who they play. I like Kansas, I have a lot of respect for their program/fans/Mangino, they're a respectable team. If you get on facebook, I even say on there ... "Ryan Dunn
is not looking forward to having to cheer for Mizzou in the Big XII title game." To say it again, I am nowhere near a bandwagon fan, you mistake me talking about teams forbeing a fan, I'm sorry, Nebraska is out and have been for a while, I'm going to keep talking about college football well past the bowl games, and teams other than Nebraska will come up, it's inevitable.
Also, I know of the workings of a lot past the Big XII, but my personal opinion shows through just like everyone else. This year I just think the Big XII was way under rated and I'm waiting for everyone else to wake up and realize how over rated their beloved Pac 10 really was, the SEC wasn't as good as everyone made them out to be, but I still feel they were way better than the Pac 10 who gets their dicks sucked by the media just because of their location, not because of actual talent.
Yeah Dennis Dixon was a good player, I don't doubt that, but it's really sad that there's no backup that can even run the offense. A team is still a team and I put it all on the coaches that they don't have a suitable backup to at least come in and make games decent. They should have given the backup some reps instead of trying to make Dixon out to be a Heisman candidate.
And the whole linemen thing ... it was more of a joke than anything. Yeah I think they're under rated, but no they won't even win the Heisman, they have their own award and that's about as good as it's going to get. I can appreciate the skill players and they play a vital role on the field. I just hate it when "good" teams have injuries in that department, but no one to step in and at least make an attempt to keep the game going. That's either poor coaching or recruiting.
As for Mizzou or Kansas' schedule. Mizzou's SOS was higher than Oregon's how do you have any room to talk on that one? Kansas keeps getting a bad rep of having a great team on a year where their schedule wasn't top notch, they still only lost one game ... but losing one game this year makes a team horrible, mostly because of all the unbeaten teams still out there.
Oh ... and don't brag about Cal ... yeah they may have been #6 at one point in time, but now they're barely bowl eligible at 6-5.

I answered that ... Kansas has a quality backup with good playing experience. Meier can be moved over from WR to QB, he led the team last year to a 6-6 season, he's not the same caliber as Reesing, but he can still put points up on the board and with the talent and confidence his supporting players have he might have been pretty good.
And Reesing did halfway decent last night, if it weren't for the 2 missed field goals Kansas would have been tied late in the game, not behind. There's a big difference between Kansas with Reesing not playing like he should and Oregon without or even with a injured Dixon, Kansas still made it a game down to the last minute.

I went over that ... he had a .500 season last year. But I also said, with the confidence that the receivers have and the way the McAnderson has been running this year, I'd bet that Meier would have done better this year if Reesing would have been injured.

Oregon with Dixon was the best team in the nation. Better than Kansas ever was, and would ever hope to be. Kansas was way over rated due to the fact of their bunk ass schedule. Its easy to look like a powerhouse when you play a schedule that does not include a single top 25 team.

The Holiday Bowl is the Big XII #3 vs. Pac 10 #2 ... if they do get that they'll play Arizona State ... but being #5 don't they get a BCS bowl? Sugar, Fiesta or Orange? Cause I know the Rose Bowl is usually Pac 10 vs. Big Ten.

Allstate BCS Title Game ...
#1 vs. #2
FedExOrange Bowl
BCS vs. BCS (ACC if available)
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl
BCS vs. BCS (Big XII if available)
Allstate Sugar Bowl
BCS vs. BCS (SEC if available)
Rose Bowl Game by Citi
BCS vs. BCS (Big 10 & Pac Ten if available)
So I'm thinking Fiesta Bowl for Kansas if Mizzou goes to the title game? Or does Oklahoma get that for going to the Big XII title game? If Mizzou loses to Oklahoma do they go to the Fiesta bowl? I wish I knew more about what BCS teams go to which bowls.
