So long story short I am 23years old and have lost some weight since I turned 21 and lately whenever I try to get into a bar or buy alcohol I almost get denied because they almost don't believe that its my I.D.

So my question is can I go into the D.M.V. and get a new picture taken? Or just plan on putting the weight back on?

Its $14 for a replacement, so I would imagine a new ID with a different picture will be around there.

The kicker though is when you get a new license, they'll give you a paper license temporarily and take away your old license. It takes about a week to get the real license mailed to you.

When I turned 21, I was given a paper license and imagine trying to buy alcohol with it right when they started doing that. I argued with a store clerk for 10 minutes and told them to call the cops.

In columbus they make your license right there after they take your pic. You cant tell me omaha and lincoln doesnt do the same.

Yes we can. Here, I'll tell you again:
The DMV offices in Lincoln do not make your license right there after they take your pic. They give you a fancy paper copy, and your new plastic license comes in the mail a week or two later.

^^ i had this happen. not when i turned 21, but when i got my M endorsement it was right when they switched to the paper thingy and i got denied entry to a place until the door guy asked a bike cop to look at my "fake" and the officer laughed and said "arent u guys supposed to be up on all this new ID stuff? its real. this is the temp id and the real one comes in the mail."

bouncer was pissed

they use to, but now they give you the paper one. Its to prevent people bringing in false info and getting fake IDs. So now they mail it to you to make sure its your own.

IIRC with how it is now, you can go in and do everything within 30 days before you turn 21 and they'll mail you your new license within a few days before of you turning 21.

I would call in advance and double check, but believe reading you can do that.

It's not a simple photocopy job. It's special paper with your new license printed on it. I think it'd be hard to fake well.

Thanks for the reminder, I need to update my address. I hope they don't charge the full price since I renewed it in May.

Yes i was, things have changed alot in the dmv since the last time i had to get a new license. I talked to a guy at the court house about it. He said people were coming in and taking the written and driving tests for other people. Then the person who wanted the license was going down to the treasurer and getting their picture taken and getting a license. They now take your picture in the dmv office here also, instead of the treasurers office where they also printed your license.

I think you're right. If I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure my brother did this when he turned 21? I'll definitely look into it.

Incorrect. You are allowed to get your "paper" license 10 days in advance and they will mail you your hard copy within 20 days. you need to take in ALL your old id's including id cards and drivers licenses if you have multiples or you will not get your license ha. I just did this today actually cause ill be 21 in 10 days. For some odd reason idk if its Lincoln or just cause its because they have to mail you your license but it was 32$, and every other time I have ever gotten a license in my hometown county it was only 14$. Bullshit!

Also you need to have 2 forms of proof that have your name and address that will be on the id. Such as a cable bill or something. Gay.
