do you do motherboard replacement on laptops?

the laptop is a Dell inspiron....i'll have to get the model number later..1745 maybe? something like that.

just curious if you do mobo replacements on laptops and any estimate of charges. was going to do it myself but i don't want to get into disassembling a laptop.

What is the laptop doing, is it not powering on at all? One other thing you miht want to check if it is still under warranty through the dell website. Looking up the motherboard for a studio 1745 would be around $250 to replace.

its out of warranty.

its having really weird symptoms like not recognizing hard drives sometmes, if it does recognize it, i can load up ubuntu just fine but windows will start to load then just reboot in an endless loop. when trying to reinstall windows (on multiple hard drives tested) it'll get to the point of the GUI install and never load. having tried multiple hard drives, the only thing left seemed like the motherboard.

is the 250 including parts or just labor.

Try updating the BIOS maybe?
