Do I have the wrong bellhousing? Mine doesnt have the mechanical clutch ball on the side. It is the cast iron bellhousing so it should be a later model right? I am confused right now.

Cast Iron is a real early one. The later models used aluminum.

Upon further review, that looks like really old big truck stuff. Is the tranny an SM465 or a SM420? Shoot a pic of the whole thing if you could please.

Found this picture on google of a cast iron bell housing that looks alot like mine.

Then googled that casting number and they have it listed as 63-66 chevy truck.
Will I need to find another bell housing?

I was always going to try one of those bellhousings. I don't know why it wouldn't work as long as you can fabricate a bracket to hold the pivot ball. That should be the only limiting factor. You might also just double check to make sure your flywheel will fit in it. I would think it would, but that might be nice to know for sure. Also, the bottom holes might not have threads in them. On some older trucks like that, the bolts went through the housing and were threaded into the trans. You should be able to remedy this by just using a bolt and nut.

I'll trade you an aluminum one that will work correctly for that cast iron one.

Probably be easier for me just to trade then try rigging something up. Is there an advantage to running the on I have vs. the aluminum one? Sounds Like I am going to have to come up and visit you again.

Yes and no problems but throttle happy martin had a broke one. I wouldn't worry about it. Mine is going to a sfi rated one When this one cracks.
