That a major auto maker has a twin turbo V6 (think back to the 07 NAIAS prototype cars) that is pretty far a long in development and is going to start showing up in damn near everything they make. Unfortunately most of them will have a glass tranny so you won't be able to turn up the boost, but one truck application will have a good tranny and come with a nice amount of HP stock with a trans that will hold even more.

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about so please cut the **** and give me a link. If you posted it pic it's getting own3d by the firewall.

There aren't really any good links. But this has something to do with it.

And this might have something to do with things too.

I was obviously told things they don't say and also things I can't substantiate with quick google searches.

This article has something to do with what's going on, but don't look for any of the front drive cars to have 415 HP, tranny won't handle it

That sort of gives some info but has the truck wrong, which would be easy to do if you don't know what's going on.

ya i read a small article about, the fusion suv will be the first one to have it, starting next year?

maybe theyll come out with another turbo 4 banger mustang like the old svo's

4 cam torino
19th November 2007, 11:06 AM
new Mustangs are way heavier than fox bodies. That wouldn't be a good idea, turbo 6 maybe though could be ok.

With variable valve timing I think they could still get away with a turbo 4 cylinder now even in a heavier car. The new SRT4's are making 260+ ft lbs from 2,000 rpm - 5,600 rpm which is more than the current V6 mustang makes. Plus even with a turbo setup the 4 cylinder setup is still probably going to be lighter than the 4L V6 they are using. Cost would increase though.

So basically they'll be putting these motors in nothing cool... Sweet

"Interestingly, in most applications these engines are not to be calibrated for performance, but rather fuel economy." -even better

Most of them. There will be one cool vehicle with extra power. The rest will still have 350 HP. Nothing wrong with 350 HP Fusions, MKZ's, Milans, MKX's , Fusions, Tauruses, etc. Note one vehicle that was called out earlier in the thread that isn't on the 350 HP list, hint hint. I might just trade one of my vehicles in on the cool TT 3.5L vehicle...

2009 Lincoln MKS
A turbocharged V6 model will arrive a year after the first MKS rolls off the line, delivering V8-rivaling power with less fuel consumption. That engine should offer around 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque.

Leave it to Ford to introduce some sweet engine line, and put them in ugly vehicles and put glass trannys behind them.

The glass tranny is a joint venture with GM, I guess it even has a GM designation.

lol.. that is funny. All hating aside, it sounds like it will be a cool engine, will be interesting to see what it'll take when the aftermarket starts rolling around. I'm not really a big fan of V6s though, especially sound-wise.

they do sound like ****. I'd rather listen to a swarm of fart canned Hondas every second of the rest of my life than one quarter mile pass by a GTP with exhaust.

now days you can tune exhaust to make them sound good. And only reason they are putting them behind glass trans, which will crap out by 60k more than likely anyways, is because they are trying to hold the street racing of 4 door cars to a minimum. I like the whole turbo part of it tho and you can always rebuild a warrantied transmission.
