Knute Rockne ... 6 national titles in 13 years. That's impressive, but was also a long time ago.

Guess my pick ... Callahan wasn't on there, neither was Solich, so I had to settle for TO.

How does Joe Pa deserve any mention in this at all? 2 conference titles in 42 years? That's lame. they should just eliminate everyone other than TO and Bear now. It's between those two without a doubt.

dunnster76

TOs lead has been cut down a little ... it's 48% to 40% now from his 51% of the votes he had yesterday.

he can't win the big games in his conference. Michigan fans rip Carr for not being able to beat OSU, Joe Pa seems to have trouble beating Michigan AND OSU and gets on a poll of greatest coaches of all time. Carr belongs there as much as Joe Pa, lol.

One thing that Lloyd Carr shares with TO is the fact he has taken his team to a bowl game every single year he has coached. And 33 bowl games out of 42 seasons isn't bad on Joe Pa's resume either.

Joe Pa only has total wins, that's it. Nothing else he has done even comes close to comparing to many of the other guys on the list. He's done it for a long time, and if he had been at the top the entire time that's one thing, but he hasn't been at the top for a while now. And even his total wins are less than Bowden's at this point. Joe Pa shouldn't even be on that list, he's got nothing.

Penn State was an independent until 1990 and didn't begin Big 10 conference play until 1993 I believe. Hard to win conference championships when you aren't in a conference.

bull ****, he's only hanging on to get the wins record. He and Bowden are both selfishly hanging on for the same reason.

I didn't know what Penn State's story was before they joined the Big 10. I didn't know if they were part of some conference that broke up or what. So I guess he sort of has an excuse there. But 2 conference titles in 17 years? Yawn still. Even if he might have won more of them in his prime.

He loves football though I think he should have retired and isnt the best coach thats for sure. I do think he was one of the coachs that has really loved football for the team.

There are some things you don't know because you really just don't give a ****. I knew they were the 11th team but I didn't really care what went on with them before that.

next round will be Tom, Bear, Joe Pa, and either Knute or Bowden. They should have Tom and Bear face off and Joe Pa and Bowden face off seperately so there are two interesting polls rather than just one big one with only two contenders.

Barry Switzer and Tom Osborne are the only two that should be considered.
