I'm bored, so I figured I would talk about my project in which I've been acquiring parts for some time now.

History
Back in late 2001, I went with a good buddy of mine to look at a black SHO. Some older fella had it, and really dumped some change into the car. He had a full stack of maintenance receipts, along with a new paint job and re-upholstered leather seats. The car was beautiful, and I was jealous. My buddy bought it, and the poor car went downhill from there. He rearended a Durango while racing me, hit a pole in a parking lot, then exploded two transmissions, which caused the car to sit in a tree line ever since. This was back in 2003.

Fast forward to a few months back, and I had finally worked out a price with the guy that was reasonable. I couldn't stand to see a good example of an older SHO rot and die.

What is going on now

Exterior
Since the car took a pretty hood hit from bashing into another car, the front is pieced together. It was repaired with pieces off a black parts car, which was far from perfect. The door was also bashed in, so it too was taken off the parts car. Since this car had been repainted (with clearcoat), the door doesn't match perfectly. I was able to buff it out to closely match, but it will never be right. Recently I've gathered all new front end parts, including a mint front bumper, new fog lights, and new headlights.

Interior
The inside of this car was completely trashed when I got it. It took me over 4 hours to clean everything, and it still bugs me. I need to search for some interior parts, but I haven't really gotten that far yet. I need to find a new dash that doesn't have a crack in it, and then get the headliner redone. I already have a new re-upholstered sunroof visor, so I guess that is a start. My goal is to get the inside to look near new again.

Drivetrain
This is basically coming down to saving up money for parts. So far I've bought a good condition MTX transmission from Oklahoma, along with an upgraded 9.75 in flywheel. It won't be going into the car until I get the diff pulled out and reinforced so the slider pins won't coming shooting out on me. I also need to blow a good chunk of change on a clutch, which isn't bought yet.

This Sunday I'm cruising over to Waterloo, IA to pick up a lower mileage 3.2L. My first thoughts were to swap this into my 89, but I haven't decided if that is what I want to do yet. Who knows. If not, it will be going in my red automatic SHO.

Cliff Notes
I need to save up for a clutch and to have someone strengthen up my diff before the car is up and going again. Once I go out and buy some bigger jack stands, I'll start dropping the subframe down so I can pull the cracked tranny out. My goal is to have the car going when it gets warm out again next year.

Ya, they had semi style shifters, due to the really high arm rest. I shortened my 1990 SHO's shifter quite a bit:

That same shifter is going on this car.

decent. i'm probably getting a pacesetter STS for mine. its only like 90 bucks or something like that. :dunno:

its not high on my priority list though. i've got no problems making the shifts happen so i'll wait til it becomes a necessary mod

I just got done driving 700 miles in the damn rain to pick up two lower mileage engines. One will make it's way into this SHO. The engine in it right now runs awesome, but I want to go through a lower mileage engine and throw it in there while the subframe is dropped down for the tranny replacement.

Just two right now, 3.0L & 3.2L. I'll have another 3.2 laying around once I part out my white daily whenever the transmission finally goes out. I'm waiting.......

Sweet! I actually did something this weekend! I hauled my car to Lincoln so I can start working on it. My Mark VIII was taking up the garage space till now, so now I can actually make some progress.

Haha! No, surprisingly. The stupid front wheel bearing went out, and I just don't care enough to fix it. I have a Cobra buddy coming down on Weds to possibly buy it for $300 bucks. It will put a down payment on something else that I need dearly. :bolt:

Damn that car is hot.

It's a 20 footer, that's for sure. I need to work on that paint some more. I have a new bumper, headlights, and header panel for the front, so at least that will be cleaned up. The only other thing the exterior needs is my good set of Slicers on the car, new tint, and factory exhaust put back on the car. It will NOT be leaving my shop with that faggot ass catback still on the car. All the hangers are broke, so the muffs just drag on the ground. :gfightsmiley:

Sadly it's true. Martin would have been impressed with this tree line. It also had a Yugo with a bad clutch, Daytona, older C/10, and a '91 SHO.

One more picture to show how horrible that exhaust is.

Dude, the white SHO is a PILE. The suspension is completely shot. It has 170k on the original struts. :nervous: Oh, and the motor mounts are broke for some reason. But hey, she is all yours if you just want a car to beat the ever living **** out of. It takes abuse quite well. I always have her up in the 7,200 rpm range. haha.

I'll let you know when I start working on it. :)
