In Nebraska I currently have no points off of my license and no tickets at all on my record. I got a speeding ticket this weekend in Missouri going 15 over....a $108 ticket after court costs. My question is...what does this mean? I fully intend on paying it since I was speeding and the patrol man was very thorough, but what if I didn't pay? Probably a warrant…but only in Mizzou or here too? Does this take any points off of my license? Noob questions for sure but I have never been cited out of state until this ticket.

I got a speeding ticket in Nashville once. I didn't pay it and a month later a letter came from the DMV. They were coming for me if I didn't settle up with Tennessee issue. It's just like getting a ticket here with the points.

Doesn't every state have its own point system? How does Nebraska determine how many points count against me?

Thunder may have just found my answer :
According to the NE DMV, when convicted of a traffic violation in another state, points are assessed against a driving record as if the violation occurred in Nebraska.

In NE it is 3 points for going 15 or move mph over the speed limit. The Nebraska DMV notes that upon conviction of a violation, points are assessed to a driving record as of the date of violation. Convictions remain on the driving record for five (5) years. Accumulating 12 points in a two (2) year time period (counting from the last date of violation) causes automatic revocation of the operator’s license under the Nebraska Point System

$108 seems low though compared to Nebraska from what I have heard.

Missouri does communicate with Nebraska. If you fail to pay, a warrant will be issued and your Nebraska driver's license will be suspended until you get it taken care of.

Last I knew, Illinois does not communicate violations with Nebraska.

i dont think colorado and nebraska communicate either. but my dad got a ticket in like new hampshire when we lived in massachusettes in like 1990 and one time when he went to re-new his nebraska liscense in like 1999 or some **** they made him settle up with new hampshire before they would let him.

Yeah. I had my license suspended for a speeding ticket in Mizzou. It took them about six months to send me a letter that it was suspended though...lol.

I can confirm this. When I lived in Colorado I got a few speeding tickets in Nebraska and I had to pull my driving record for my job in Colorado and it was always clean.

So not all states talk to each other. I'm kind of surprised to hear they communicate at all with each other. Seems like it would be more of an administrative pain if they didn't have some type of universal system in place.

Regardless I would always pay the ticket. No need to forget about it and get arrested for it later possibly.

You shouldn't speed unless in a racing situation.

You shouldn't speed unless in a racing situation.

Or unless you're drunk driving looking for small children to have your way with.

some states are different. if it's not a point's violation then they will issue a warrant(but youre state shouldn't give 2 shits).

if it is a points violation(like be a trooper) then you will be suspended(it takes a few weeks). if you can go back and fight it or try to get it knocked down you should..
