Purple 1993 Camaro Z28

Figured I'd start one of these since I'm finally getting a few things done to it (nothing major yet). I bought the car in late April of 2009. The car was 100% completely stock with just under 70k miles.

Since I've had the car I've purchased a few different mufflers that I've gone through (the ****** muffler took a ****, bought it used). Also bought a manual cutout to go with the Magnaflow muffler that I disliked. Basically I started stockpiling some things for the car and I am finally getting around to getting the stuff put on.

My LPP long tubes and y pipe were put on the car this week and I'm hoping to have my GMMG exhaust and electric cutout installed. Should sound decent I hope. I also have a set of 4:10s waiting to be put in the rear end. After the gears are installed I may focus a little on the cosmetic side of the car. I just bought some stainless Camaro inserts for the back. I think it will look good, if not I'll pull them off.

In the somewhat "near future" I'd like to have decent set of heads, cam, and intake. I'm still unsure of what route I want to go though. Like I've said before, it will not be a strip car.

In before everyone tells you to start by putting an LS-1 in it! I personally like the LT-1, actually one of the fastest street cars i've ever rode in was a 383 LT-1 vette...****er screamed! M6 or A4?

Nice! Not sure if MGW make's a shifter for the F-body but i would think so, they make em for vettes and they rock in the cobra t-56...I would invest in one and the skip shift eliminator?

No need for the skip shift eliminator and I think I might go with the Hurst short throw shifter. I don't think I've ever heard of MGW?
edit: sounds nice but is pricey. Not too much more than what I was gonna go with tho

They make quality ****! they are all the rage in the cobra world...Lots of people trade their pro.50, steeda, everything for them. i gave you a link in the post above, worth checking out. I was reading up on LS1tech and seems like it has a decent review...i don't think it has been out for the f-body very long? I have one in my cobra and it was worth every penny.

Got the GMMG and electric cutout on the car. I have to run the wire for the cutout still and see if I can't adjust the exhaust a tad. It is vibrating against either the floor pan or the back shield on the tank, I haven't looked yet. It sounds pretty decent with the exhaust finally on there. I need to order some different tips tho because the previous owner grinded the top of the tips down for some reason but it looks ok for now. Ill post some pics up when I take some.

I got the Moroso CAI put on the car today. Also, fixed the rattling of the exhaust. Still have to wire the cutout and stuff but I'm not in a big hurry for that. My main concern is getting the car painted now.
Im waiting on my "Berger" panel to be painted by 350-10. It'll be satin black w/ the stainless camaro inserts. Idk if Ill like it or not but Ill give it a shot.

And I forgot to mention, I took the front plate bracket off of the car as well. Looks much better but it needs cleaned up and the holes need to be filled in too. Id really like to have the front grill repainted but I have 0 experience doing that kind of stuff.

I've never liked ZR1s. I don't think they look bad for a factory wheel, but I don't know why anyone would actually spend money on them if they didn't come on their car. They are boring.

I don't think they're ugly, I just don't think they are anything special. Sure it's an upgrade over stock LT1 wheels, but that doesn't really say much. They look better, but they still look like factory wheels i.e. boring.

Im gonna go to Dynosport on Friday morning for shits and giggles just to see what I gained from the headers and CAI. Oh and newer plugs and wires. Bone stock it put down 257rwhp and 305tq with a slight miss because of the old plugs and wires.
Im hoping I see close to 270-280ish rwhp if not more. I havent seen any #s from LPP headers on lt1s so we'll see

You might want to think about putting new shocks in the rear while you're putting the brackets on. The brackets use the shock mount on the rear end as an anchor to hold themselves and the rear end in place. So you're basically taking the shock off durring the process. Might as well kill two birds with one stone and put new shocks on while you're at it. I got the cheapest ones AutoZone had, Gabriel shocks $16.99 each and they're actually very decent!

You don't have to tear out the carpet. There are access spots in the carpet right where the bolts are for the shocks, they just flip up. It's simple.

Went to dans today and picked up almost 40hp and 20tq. New #s are 295.1rwhp and 324.7tq. Not too terrible for just headers and CAI I guess. That was thru an open y pipe which dan said is possible it couldve hurt the #s a bit but just depends on some cars

Nice! I don't see why the open Y pipe would hurt the numbers. I had that spiralflow on my car when i dyno'd a couple months ago. Took the spiralflow off and dyno'd with an open Y pipe. Picked up 10hp 11tq.

They got to be factory i'd think. Somebody had to have been a damn good guesser to get each one cut so perfect above each shock mount. If you see them in person they look factory. Plus, the car had the factory shocks on it before i replaced them so why would somebody cut those access holes for shits and giggles?

They weren't cut ALL the way through to begin with. It was like a templet showing where the shock mount is and all i had to do was punch the seams with a screw driver and it opened right up. Kind of like the seam on a box of macaroni, you punch your thumb through that templet part on the side then peal back the top.

Yea they're the Founders Performance brackets. Don't mind the chopped up backside of the brackets :lol: I welded them on but right before i welded them the bracket moved and i didn't know it....so i had to cut the welds.

Finally put my Berger panel on today with 72Nova. Was pretty simple and straight forward (Ive never done it before) I think it looks pretty good. Sometime Ill be switching the stainless inserts for just some silver ones I think. It doesnt look too great in the direct sunlight but it will prly look better in the dark Im sure.

Not much of one but I'm pretty excited about it. I'm getting married this coming August and I think I finally convinced my fiance to let me get my h/c/i set up next winter.
I know the car is for sale right now but everything is for the right price right? This is giving me a lot of motivation to keep this car. I can't wait until I can go back to work and start saving some money before she changes her mind. (I told her I was gonna pull out so we would not have kids until after my car was done with the swap:)).
Goal for the car is to be somewhere between 400-450 rwhp N/A. According to LE it'll be up around 410rwhp before the intake and whatnot.

Edit: I know a lot of people have big plans for their cars and stuff but this WILL be something that gets done as long as nothing unforseen comes up. *crosses fingers*

All of these should be here sometime just after the first of the year due to Comp doing inventory and not shipping anything out until then.

Ya, I wanted to also but with not working the past month and a house and wedding to pay for this is the route that makes more economical sense at the moment. I'll be looking at over $2k in parts alone for this which sucks. But, I have no reason not to replace the water pump and opti, etc

Ok, I am done spending money on this car until I have the rest of my parts for my cam swap.
Today, went to Gretna and picked up a radiator for the car...and about 5 mins ago bought some exhaust from the same guy. It is being delivered tonight. Got a pretty good deal on it and it is very clean.
Once again, I'm happy but kicking myself for not waiting until the cam is done.

AND, this exhaust will stay on the car for quite some time. Or at least until I find a true dual setup I want.

Depending on the lift thats fairly close to what Lloyd elliot and AI put with their LE2 & 200cc CNC heads to go with a 383. Normally they are about a 230/238 @ 110-111.
