Well, my old post got deleted in the merge so I will start a new one. I am still looking for ideas for my 77 nova. I am still thinking SB, but I'm not set on that yet. I have started the body work, removing a little rust, but out side of that it still has the old inline 6. So throw out your ideas. Thanks.

Keep the I6, and get NOS, 2 of the big bottles.

lol In all honesty, part of the plan was to blow up the old inline with a couple big shot of nitrous.

Some people have been making some pretty mean little I6's. Atleast in the Ford camp.

LSx + T56?

Sorry about that misspelling. I am doing homework and posting at the same time. Not such a good idea I guess.

I am guessing you think I have a twin turbo inline 6? In my 77 nova? lol, i wish it was that cool. No its a NA inline 6 that is under powered as hell and has a side-draft carb that wants to flood out every time I make a turn. That is why I am kind of wanting to get rid of it (the inline 6).

Must be real exotic to have a side draft carb. Restore it back to original, that has to be rare.

But seriously, I assume youre a HS kid with little cash flow. So here is what a aproaching salty oldtimer would recomend. Relisticly for someone in your situation.

1. Get a Job, work your ass off learn good work ethic. Be it Mc D's or the best job in the world. There will always be cars, just be glad you have one.

2. Buy a junkyard or pull out running SBC 327 ci or larger. with all accessories. Don't waste time with a 305, youre better off putting a split manifold on your 235 and keeping that badass side draft it has about the same potential.

3. Reseal the motor, clean it up and paint it. Let it sit and collect parts needed to do the swap, Radtiator hoses, motor mounts exhaust. Just about anything you can think of to make it easier when d-day comes.

4. Yank the 6 out one weekend, spend some time cleaning everything up and ainting the engine bay the next week.

5. Drop the engine SBC in the car, get it running. You shoud be able to use the current tranny in the car. Drive the car for a while to work the bugs out as is.

6. Work at moding the car, cam, headers, convertor, manifold carb etc as time goes on.

That should help you get your hands dirty, start learning and work your way into it. You see lots of people get in over their heads and have a non running car sitting in the driveway for years until they finally just give up.

I am in college and that is why I don't have any money. I have two jobs and I live on my own w/ three roommates. I have rebuild a couple of SBC for other people and one BBC. I use to do lots of body work too. I should have some money to buy the engine parts buy summer. I just like thinking about it and dream.
