Found this ad on craigslist. I figured I would have about this much $$$ into it if I were to buy a set and then buy all the parts myself. Been looking awhile for a the same D44/14bolt and its usually around $300 range. with 3:73 or 4:10s. Is this a good deal?

Also what truck should I put them in. I have come to the conclusion that I will probably never offroad in my 85 Chevy. I just can't bring myself to do it. So I was thinkin I should put this set in my 79 chevy so I can take it to Tuttle and such. Thoughts?

If they have that much new stuff, then yes, that is a smokin' deal. Ball joints and such are pricey and no fun to change. 4.56:1 is a bonus.

Put the axles in whichever truck you don't mind bending. If you're gonna cry about dents, stay home.

Put them on the 79 and manual swap that truck also.

And don't worry about a bbc cause I have seen some hard core wheeling with a 305. Just get one that runs and let the gears do the rest. Yes thats a good deal. Tuttle is fun as hell.

yeah thats what I was thinkin, talked to the guy and I am going to pick them up on Saturday. engine is pretty strong, Previous owner bought a goodwrench 350 for it.

The truck right now has a 700r4/Np205. But thinkin about going back the TH-350 because I have a rebuilt one ready to install. Would the th350 bolt up to the 205?

If its a 205 than that is already a 350 adapter. If its a 208 then I am not sure but I think so. The advantage of the 700 would be the lower first gear (3.08 V.s. 2.52) still either would be ok. I am really starting to like my sm465 though. Craig has a 350 goodwrench with a intake in front of a 465/205 and 4.56s and runs great. Even worked good when it was a 400/203 till the tranny went to see jesus.

O yeah and can I get a a 15x10 inch wheel to fit on the 14bolt? Don't really want to have to buy new tires and wheels since the tires are brand new.

Have you ever looked at colorado K5? I think if you grind the calipers but you will have to look a little. What size tires?

Checked it out. May have to do a little grinding. The tires are 35s and the lift is a 4 inch with blocks in the rear. Should I look into a shckle flip instead of the blocks?

Yep, Since I am going to be told I am wrong look at the DIY 4X4 one. Even thought I think the ORD one is better.

I mounted 15x10" rims on my Suburban with the 3/4 ton axles. Just took a little grinding on the calipers. There are some pictures in my work log.

You guys go on and on about how you can make longer shackles I like that it used stock ones. Seems easier and I have no plan of adding lift. It already causes a the pinion angle to be wrong, why do I want it to be worse?

How is the pinion angle wrong?

Why can't you come up with a valid reason?

Because I don't think longer shackels are the correct way to lift a truck more than 4". How is it any different that the dorks in high school lifting there camaro with 8" long shackels? The point aside I feel more than 4" of lift is a waste on anything less than 40s. I like the fit and finish of mine, and the fact that I made the swap in 45 min with out fabrication of shackles. You are welcome to like what you want. I like mine, you can like yours. I am just pointing out there is more than one way to skin a cat.

Yep it was. Rusty pos with a Good drivetrain. You would be suprised what a change from the best rwhp spring in the secondaries of the truck avenger to the slowest spring will net in mpg. 9 to 15.
