Well here goes another project of mine which I wasn't planning on making a work log on this car till it was done but I also wasn't expecting to find what I did tonight.

Picked this car up about a year ago for a steal of a deal and it had a new top put on it previous to the accident, so I couldn't pass it up since getting the top replaced cost more than what I paid for the car.

I first went out to look at it and it was sitting in the corner of a barn inside where it had been sitting for years. The guy I purchased it from got it from out in western Nebraska and purchased it to make twins of his convertible he has had since highschool I guess.

When looking at the car I asked him if the passenger side was in as good as shape as the drivers side (since I could only look at the drivers side due to it being in a corner) and his response was "yes"...then he paused and sais "oh except it does have a little dent on that side".At this point that should have raised a red flag but he was throwing in quite a few parts and I was already getting a good deal on it,so I went ahead and purchased it.

With the title in hand a friend and I go back the next day and pick it up and to my surprise their is more than a little dent to the passenger side of the car...figures.

here is how it looked the day of picking it up

Then the car sat at the bodyshop where one of my friends works for a couple of months getting the front end repaired...here is some after pics.(It currently has fenders, hood, and front bumper on it as well...just no pics yet)

Now time to address the interior...before
http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa165/Js04sILVerBullet/vertprojectii006.jpg
After pics soon to come since I have completely cleaned and shampood the carpet.

Now after I put the engine compartment back together I went to go and try to start it but the fuel pump wasn't making any noise. After some investigating I found that someone had it recently dropped the tank and put a new harness in for the fuel pump and installed a new fuel filter. So then I finally tracked it down to be a ground wire up in the engine compartment to be split...fixed that and it fired right up.
I then changed the transmission fluid and filter and valve cover gaskets which were leaking bad.I let it warm up to operating tempature and drove it quite a bit but noticed it was smoking from the passenger side.
I then dropped the h-pipe and because my first thought was it's maybe leaking transmission fluid out of the cooler lines which turned out not to be it.
Next step is Im replacing the exhaust manifold gaskets and notice what looks to be fresh oil coming out of the thread holes where the bolt goes in for the exhaust manifold.

So now I will have to pull the heads and this now is turning into alot bigger project that I expected.

you can find stock E7 heads for dime a dozen. hope you don't have much in it, looks pretty rough. and an AOD/VERT/GT fox is about the slowest mustang you can get, well, just barely better then 96-98GT's, LOL.

He didn't get it out of Eastern Auto Salvage (is that place still open? seriously, I want to know) A friend of mine looked at this exact car. I was with him, it was just east of Hickman, on Hickman road. Guy also had a few other fox body mustangs out there.

Last time I stopped out there he still had a black GT hatch, 1991 or so. He also has an 1985 or 86 TTop gt. I just drove by his place tonight, on my way to pick up a pair of GT-40 heads for my next build, and the red TTop car is still there, but it's been moved out back by the building the car in this thread was in. I didn't see the GT hatch car.

Update 6-12-10Well got it running again a few weeks ago. Here's a vid

http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa165/Js04sILVerBullet/th_alotofmustangstuff101.jpg (http://s201.photobucket.com/albums/aa165/Js04sILVerBullet/?action=view&current=alotofmustangstuff101.mp4)

Here was the old exhaust setup that was on it (minus the blown out stock muffler that was on the other side).I decided to replace them with flowmaster knockoff mufflers and dynomax tailpipes to give it a little better sound...and since the stock replacemnet mufflers were about the same price.
http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa165/Js04sILVerBullet/alotofmustangstuff100.jpg

And heres what it looks like now with the front clip reinstalled

http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa165/Js04sILVerBullet/untitledoaoaoao.jpg

Now just need to get it repainted and reinstall the interior and hopefully be done with it.
