Well, i bought this car a few months ago from a kid in O' neil for 500 bucks. Came with a Goodwrench 4 bolt 350 and TH350 that the kid just threw in there to get it in then he gave up, aparently this kid now goes to SCC Milford...i wonder why. I have since then torn the motor out and done a stock rebuild to the bottom end and had the heads rebuilt. Also have put in a mild cam / 292 adv duration. .500 lift, Weiand intake, long tubes and 700 carb. I have since then been taking apart the body of the car and havent found any rust holes. The next thing on the list of **** to do is fill the engine compartment holes and get it painted, along with figuring out the wiring so i can have a simple-as-flintstones carb setup with as few wires as possible.

The car had a bunch of brand new parts sitting in the backseat of which was a brand new aluminum radiator, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor, hoses, and B&M line-loc.

Some crappy pics.

FWIW, when I carbed my '85, the entire computer harness on the passenger side was unneeded, and got tucked away.

I yanked all un-needed wires, power antenna and all emissions bullshit already.

Takes a real man to make the car run with all that **** still on it... When I built my engine for the Berly I didn't want to take the easy route and throw everything away so I spent the time (and money) to do it right...

Call me when you want to go fast.

Before you start, No, My Berly is not fast  When I built it I could take out a stock LT1 and hang with an LS1 but that's turd slow today... Which is fine because it's more of a cruiser now than anything. It can still beat a majority of 3rd gen F-Bodies though (Which isn't saying much)...

I pulled on the ccc stuff from my 81. It was light years faster with a 4175 and conventional hei. Funny thing is a BBC will bolt right in this car.

a bbc bolts right into a trans am? Its not that easy. I dont remember if anything needed done with the firewall, but I know you needed a slim radiator and very slim electric fans, and some pulley swaps, s10 gearbox..

Like I said, bolt in. Why couldn't you just use the bbc pump and run the power T/A box? The boxes are the same size just one is power the other is manual.

73-87ish c-10 c-20 c30. Last one I bought was $600 c30 then a $500 c10 with a new rebuilt th400 behind it. Just keep your eyes peeled they are out there. The c10 454 is in my k30 right now.

If you want to go fast, don't waste your time on a bbc, find a Gen III sbc.

That being said, you'll have better, cheaper results with a Gen III swap than you would with a BBC.

Updates? Whats your adress, I might drive by and rev my motor as to say "hi there, how are you".

MulletRide
10th April 2010, 08:39 PM
Well, i've got the motor in. Now i need to fiqure out whether i want to make a custom plate to bolt the torque arm to or buy a crossmember to fit the th350.

Burntz
11th April 2010, 06:50 AM
Either a crossmember and and driveshaft from an 82 camaro w/ the th200

or some company made a kit with an adapter, output shaft, etc.

http://www.transmissioncenter.net/gforce_double_hump_crossmembers_.htm#th350

its way down the page, its a different tailhousing which eliminates the gap you encounter. You use the tailhousing and get a special output shaft, and you can use your crossmember and everything else, while still maintaining your speedo and driveshaft.

Thats what I did with my 84 z28

MulletRide
11th April 2010, 05:28 PM
There was a new driveshaft in the car when i bought it so hopefully the kid bought the right one.

MulletRide
18th April 2010, 07:30 PM
Update: got all the wiring fiqured out and have been busy running the wires so that they're semi-clean looking. Also, got the motor running properly. Up next will be looking to get a Spohn crossmember with torque arm relocation.

BTW: Does anybody know what thread size the cooler line output/input on a th350 are?
