fuel cut defender? are you ****ing serious?
Ya its that, megasquirt, or a missing link. I dont have the money for ms now and ive heard bad things about missing link. And safc's dont work on turboed 420a's.
Burntz
24th February 2010, 03:04 AM
sweet, so basically you're buying it to blow up your motor even easier?
First off, I dont understand what it will accomplish for you
Its intended for turbo cars, with ECUs that sense manifold pressure in accordance with boost. It tricks the ECU into thinking that you arn't at the point to cut fuel.
Being as you're 420a, you're supposed to be N/A, = wtf good will a FCD do for you?
Megasquirt, emanage, or something of the sort is the only route
96eclipse
24th February 2010, 03:11 AM
sweet, so basically you're buying it to blow up your motor even easier?
Im going turbo? And yes it does trick the ecu which is why i need it.
Burntz
24th February 2010, 03:29 AM
You're missing the point retard, The FCD does not have fuel maps for boost on it = still fking pointless.
Stock turbo ECU has rising fuel maps in accordance with boost pressure derived from the Manifold differential pressure sensor, Intake air temperature sensor, coolant temperature sensor, Mass airflow sensor...it kills fuel at 18-19 psi to prevent engine damage.
Stock non-turbo ecu has a linear fuel map, fuel rises with RPMS. Pretty sure no manifold pressure sensor.
So tell me why you'd need this fuel cut defender again?
96eclipse
24th February 2010, 12:56 PM
The ecu doesnt raise fuel by rpm.
Burntz
24th February 2010, 10:08 PM
It does, but its not based on RPM's.
Fuel delivery is based on the MAF and or MAP sensors. It uses these readings to determine air/fuel, and also figure out Load, which is used to determine timing advance, all in accordance with the fuel/ignition maps set on the ECU.
N/A fuel maps don't account for the fact instead of ~60% volumetric effeciency, you now have ~100% to ~120%, and won't add fuel at the correct rates. Ignition advance and timing will also be very different.
What you need to do, is get a stand alone. Plain and simpleee. I'm sure if you ran 4 Psi and used premium you'd be somewhat ok, but you're not understanding all the variables taken into account for proper fueling and ignition.
Do some research

It would blow up faster. How many unmolested turbo dsm's are there. My car already has a new tranny. I have all the turbo parts already and all i have left is a engine rebuild. Stock 420a pistons go for $120 a piece not including rods. They are also only good to the 250 range. All parts are cheaper for the 2.4 like water pump, oil pumps ect. And the srt-4 internals will handle quite a lot of abuse. Srt 4 on here has the same build on his turbo'd neon and he's at what 350hp now?

Well I keep buying and selling them. I had a tdo5h 16g. Sold it for 300. Then bought a eBay t3t4 .63ar and traded that for a t3 flanged t25 dsm450s and a blox fmu then sold that for 60. But so far I have spent maybe 300 on all my turbo parts. I do need a 255, Fdc, and a 38mm wastgate. The rebuild I'm at 300. I'm Gona break it in without boost.

WTF 4g63ts didnt come with forged internals??????????????????:rolleye:
96eclipse
1st September 2010, 04:05 PM
The head on the 420'a was designed for lotus. It was used on lotus cars and flows more air then your 4g63 head. The block was designed originaly for a truck as a 2.4 but was then used in stratus's ect. The block are identical besides a few minor details and has a shorter stroke. It is also a semi open decked design. So they cool better then the 4g63 but are still stable at high rpms. The block utilizes a bedplate instead of a individual main caps which also helps vibration.
And
420a standard bore 3.445in
4g63 standard bore 3.350in
.020 over bore 3.370 in
.040 over bore 3.390 in
.060 over bore 3.410 in (still .035in smaller than a stock 420a bore)

They came with internals designed to handle boost. There not forged but the 420's came with shitty powdered metal internals. The 4g63 is a great motor. Its proven itself over and over again. All im saying is the 420's arnt complete peices of ****.
