Heres the 86 K10 I bought from a friend for $1000. Back when I went to SCC I rebuilt both axles in the truck, put the lift on it for him, and did a few other minor things. We put the 350 crate motor in when the original 305 was leaking oil and was tired. Short version of the story is he was beating the **** out of it in gravel doing cookies, and it developed a rod knock. He bought a 454 to rebuild and put in, but ended up loosing interest and just let the truck sit out at his dad's acreage for about 4-5 years. He offered it to me cheap, so I bought it and am going to attempt to build a decent truck I can go offroading with, take to tuttle, or do whatever with and not give a **** what happens to it.
Specs when I got it:
Blown up 350 crate motor
SM465/np208
Rebuilt 10 bolts w/Yukon 4.10s and a Detroit TruTrac in the rear
Tuff country EZ ride 4" front springs
15"x10" M/T Classic II wheels and 36" Super Swamper TSL's

This is how it looked when I bought it, other than using the bed for storage (anyone recognize that cab?)

Shortblock assembled. #4 rod bearing spun and ruined the crank, so I bought an brnad new Eagle crank, Reconditioned the rods and put in ARP rod bolts, and used Sealed Power .030 flattops.

Didn't get around to snapping a picture with the heads on on the engine stand. I had to put 4 seats in the heads, 3 angle valvejob, installed new springs and positive type valveseals.
Here it is in the truck

My next goal is to get the DIY shackle flip on the rear, get my 9000lb winch mounted on it, and maybe steal the 3/4t axles from a parts truck we have at work.

Jumped a snow pile today I didn't realize was frozen solid, flew about 3-4' in the air and went a total distance of about 12'. My tool box that was laying in the back flew up and put a big ass dent in the back of the cab. Atleast it didn't bust out my back window. Not doing that again till I get the tool box secured and get the shackle flip on.

You go off any sweet jumps with it? Looks nice so far. The 350 will be plenty of go power at tuttle.

I hope so... ended up putting a comp extreme 4x4 cam in too. Sounds way meaner than it is. I dumped the clutch when leaving work earlier. Spun the tires for 50 feet or so then chirped third pretty good.

My boss and the Machinist from work were watching. They said it looked awesome. After that my boss tried it in his 97 Z71 and it was weak. I bet it didn't look as neat as I think it did. Never does when your watching from the outside.

I put a new headlight in today after work. Along with a new pigtail for the park light. All lights work correctly now. Bolted the tool box down so I can jump it safely. Changed the oil too.

Broke the 10 bolt doing a burnout after work... going to be putting some 3/4 t axles in when I do my shackle flip. I need larger u-bolts, and a different rear u-joint also, right?
Where do you guys get your hummer take-offs? I'll be needing a set.
Hillbilly

Th Hummer take offs come from North of Witchita.
If you want to know the correct conversion u-joint to install a 3/4 ton 14 bolt full floater in a half ton.

I reused a set of u-bolts.

You got a website for them? Or do I call?
The dipshit I bought the truck from put some all-thread on there for u-bolts. I should not have been driving it this way, but did anyway. Needless to say I really need to get some new u-bolts. I want to add the 1" zero-rates on the front anyway so I was thinking it might need a longer bolt.
Hopefully I get it done this weekend.

Update... I never sold this so I figured I'd finish it.
Got the calipers and rotors to do my rear disc swap since it's not the that much more $ than rebuilding the drums, what rear brackets do you guys prefer.
I was thinking about these ones http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=982423&highlight=14+bolt+rear+disc
Have you guys done this? I see everyone has these brackets but I figured the rock protection was kinda cool. I wonder how much $ these are.
I also need to get the shackle flip, the rear shackles, some fromt shackles, and a steering box brace. Are the DIY4X shackle flips the way to go? They seem the best. Who else makes these besides ORD?
I also need tires bad. Anyone else want to make a trip to KS to get some tires? I'm down to go this weekend.

Never sold it don't know how much I would have got. I wanted more than it was worth or someone would have bought it.
I goggled that tire place and its like 9 hours of driving round trip for me from Lincoln. I might see what shipping is. They raised the price too I thought they used to be $75 a piece... poop.
Hillbilly
31st May 2011, 05:05 PM
What are they now?
burnoutnova
31st May 2011, 05:10 PM
$95 each. Not that big of a deal, but it does add $100 when you buy 5.
I mean, thats still cheap... but it still sucks to spend $100 more.
They were $75 each, right? Or am I remembering wrong?

They were, and they went up. I would be willing to ride down with you possibly. You can get the ones with paint on them for $10 a piece less.
As for shackle flip, go with DIY4X. I also got my rear disc brake brackets from them. They work well, but one didn't fit correctly. I called him, he shipped me a new one at no charge, along with a shipping label to send back the defective one.

I might next weekend. I was lazy and didn't call to see how much shipping would cost. I just have my little Toyota crap wagon to drive down, so I could only haul like 8 tires total, if that. I figured if I burn 8 hours and a tank of gas I might as well just ship them, unless its insanely expensive.

If you found enough people willing to chip in (people that also needed tires) we could just drag a trailer down there.

Got my shackle flip, rear disc brackets, and front shackles in the mail today.
Also scored a set of like new 35x12.5x16.5's on Craigslist today. There on some neat 8" wide factory steel wheels to. The guys gave me 5 mounted wheels and tires and 1 extra wheel, for $400. Score!
