View Full Version : Speeding on a suspended license...

Earlier today, I was caught going 64 in a 45 zone while on Hwy 2 between 48th and 56th street. The officer was coming from the opposite direction on a motorcycle when he clocked me. He issued me a citation for driving 64 in a 45 and for a suspended license (1st offense). My court date is on the 10th of December. I wanted to know what I'm looking at for a possible punishment (minimum-maximum). I will certainly be getting a lawyer to avoid jail time as best as possible, but I'm a habitual speeder and none of my tickets have ever been light ones.

P.S. the officer let me drive away without having my car towed.

Was your license suspended for losing your points?

It would probably be a good idea to not ****ing speed if you don't have a license. I have a small problem with speeding as well, but I have a license...

Was your license suspended for losing your points?

Yes. I lost all my points to excessive speeding tickets. Every ticket was a 3 point offense (had some warnings too, but those weren't cited).

Yeah, I wasn't towed.

First time you've lost it I assume? When I got pulled over with a suspended license, they just extended the suspension and I had to pay some fines. But my license wasn't suspended for losing all my points, and it was only suspended for 3 months. They suspended it for another 6 months for when I got pulled over without it.

I would just bend over now.

And take it down before someone quotes it. You can edit your post, but with the other ones that quoted you, you are screwed.

Hi Cody, I am the city attorneys right hand man. Please believe you will be going to jail. You can get any lawyer you want. Whoever it may be, you will lose. I hate the guessing game, but please let me know you choose so i can get the handicap correct on his score card for our golf game.

You should have went to jail when you got pulled over, and had your car towed. The new law in nebraska for driving with a suspended / revoked license, is straight to jail with a $250 bond. Consider yourself stupid lucky you got to drive home.

By the way, if you show up at court WITH your license back, the ticket is Driving Under Suspension while eligible for reinstatement, $100. If not, they'll usually give you one month to get it back, or you get the Driving Under Suspension While Not Eligible for Reinstatement, and thats a big ticket.

So if you don't have a lic, why are you even driving?

Since you have decided to drive, why are you speeding?

I’m having a hard time understanding this..............

You can also get a to work permit. It will be just as good but yeah count on not having for lisence back for at least 6 months. If you dont have a job though. Just plan on getting a court appointed attorney and hope you dont get a female judge. You will at least have to take another drivers saftey class and pay a decent fine either way.

You probably won't go to jail and no they won't take your car, there's a few members here that have done much worse and not gone to jail or lost their car

You probably will not be able to get a work permit, just so you know. I had my license suspended for 3 years, and got a work permit. I sped every now and then, but someday, you'll learn to grow up, and slow the **** down.

That might save me some money frankly. Of course, the only thing I have to spend money on or spend time in is my car. Without my car, I'm either working or doing nothing at home.
