So i am going to be ordering new wheels/tires next week.

my size choices are basically:

265/70/17

or

285/70/17

Basically, an inch taller and an inch wider for $124($31 each) more. I cant see it being worth it to get the bigger tires, thoughts?

I'd get the 285's unless your going to tow stuff around with it.

well, the plan is to buy some not-so-agressive tires when spring rolls around for the stock wheels.

my real question is if i will get $124 worth of use out of them compared to the others.

It will look better with the bigger tires. Is there a particular reason that you went with the most expensive tire you could find?

I guess I don't know what your plans are for the truck, but do you need that fancy a tire?

I don't know what the official reviews are, but I'm a fan of the Interco Truxus M/Ts. I noticed while searching, though that they're all really expensive in the size you chose. I saw 285/75-16 trxus m/ts listed somewhere recently for under $200 a piece. If you're willing to change wheel size you could probably save yourself a bunch of money and still have a decent looking, very capable tire.

But, whatever, After all, it is your money.

well the plan is to buy them with a set of 17" wheels and have them for winter/play time and then buy some less aggressive tires for the stock wheels for summer/towing, etc.

so ideally, they would last me at least 3-4 years if i kept them off of the highway as planned.

I have always wanted to try a set of those too. They look like a good all application tire.

im really likin these tires in the snow. i found a street this morning that had a decent sized drift that hadnt been attempted yet. i ended up pushing snow with the front bumper for about half a block maintaining around 15mph at part throttle not even getting into it. tho it is fun to stop in the middle of a bunch of snow and then nail it and watch the snow fly everywhere.

also, the performance on packed snow is wonderful, the abs barely even kicks on when i do a brake check at 20mph.

what size did you go with?

I always tend toward extra diameter but reletively narrow when I'm buying for trucks. I don't know how well that works for rocks, but in the snow it's great.

I didn't know that applied for trucks as well, but I knew that was always the case with car snow tires. The ones for my Honda were even skinnier than the tiny factory tires.
