Ok im have a little issue right now with my lawyer telling me that the prosecutors/city attorney cant change a charge. aka willful reckless to neglegen or excessive acceleration. ive heard of plenty of people on here before getting their charges changed/reduced.

yes they can, i had it happen to me when i got my dui. they added careless driving to it too. they review your case and **** you as they see fit. you can also work deals with them to plead guilty to a lesser charge. sounds like you need a new lawyer.
edit: also it should be noted that just because you have a deal with the prosecutor the judge has final say.

it has to be offered by the prosecutors first I thought, at least that's how it worked with Sam and Josh.

you ALWAYS plead not guilty, then have your lawyer talk to the prosecutor about what they're willing to do for you.
Tell your laywer to tell the judge you'd be willing to do probation or something like that for a lesser charge.

I had no lawyer, i just showed up to court. At that time the judge drops its down. The second time i got caught, the other kid just kept going while i pulled over. well he stopped and took me to jail again. When he asked who the other kid was i told him cuz he was a douche anyway lol. He just happen to have an aunt that was a city cop that was there and she called him and told him to come back. THE STATE TROOPER GAVE HIM A TICKET AND LET HIM DRIVE HOME!!! I questioned him why?!? and said he it was his first offense and he came back and took it like a man lmao (i stopped!) Anyway he said it was less paper work and easier for him to give me wilfull wreckless rather than a racing on highway. He straight told me the judge will probably lessen the charge.

the judge changed it on his own. I went to court on the day the ticket stated and he dropped it down.
