i usually dont post in road tales but im bored and these are my first and only races since i became a citizen of omaha so I figured whatever. since ive moved here to omaha ive only driven the dirty teg maybe 5 times mostly to work but here are the two runs ive been in.
first run-
i got off work and was driving home. before going home i stopped by mcdonalds and after i got my food I was waiting at the redlight to take a right on to center a silver mustang gt revs the **** out of it next to me, it seemed relatively loud and i was pissed. so i pulled out on center and drove normally and the guy slows back down to the speed limit and we start talking. he says nice car asks whats done, i tell him its stock long block turbo, he tells me his car is a 02 GT with headers and x pipe, i ask him if its open x pipe and he says yeah thats why its loud. so he asks me to spoon and i say sure. he says he wants to go from a 2nd gear roll and i say thats fine. oh yeah let me say this: this was not a fair race since he had a passenger and i didnt. so we go from a 35 roll and at the top of 2nd i have maybe a car. as i near the top of third im kind of thinking about how that kid rev'ed on me and figured **** this guy. so i look in my rear view mirror and feel comfortable enough to turn my blinker on and merge left into his lane. so after the lane change i shift into 4th and at around 115 i hit the hazards.
he comes flying up on me and i hear him blip the throttle twice as he rev matched and thought not bad for a kid. his friend rolls down the window and yells at me, "runs us again", i said "why" and then the driver yells: "run me off the bottle". I said "what" and the kid says "you said it was turbo'd but you didnt tell us it was on the bottle". my exact words were "too soon junior" they then proceed to rev at me for the next couple of blocks till i turned off to go home.
next day i raced a red turbo'd civic si. at 120 i dont know about the same as the mustang. i think those two would actually be a good race.
cliffs notes: i got smoked by a v6 mustang and a civic dx with a fart pipe and i cut myself that night.
