I used to make floro's dealer stickers for the back of his vehicles. Good guy, high priced on some, low on others. Just got to really look at what you're doing. But I wouldn't worry too much about getting screwed.

He's really cool, I drove that 4 cyl black '93 he has, and it's very solid. It was owned by a chick for a long time and seems well maintained. He's a good guy.

At first I was like why get the 4.0 when you can get the 5.2, but then I realized we were talking about a Wrangler...

when i picked it up last august it had 24,000 miles on it, for a 2004 that was pretty low. the lowest one i could find without buying a brand new one. i picked it up for 19,000 after all the sales taxes and all that crap it came out to 20,***
Yogi

Not too shabby, and that is some low mileage.

11th October 2007, 11:26 PM
the only reason i'd pick up anything other then the inline 6, is if you weren't going to do any offroading by any means
if its was a wj
or if it was the 5.9 zj
but obviously we are talking about a wrangler, so i6 ftw
c0z
11th October 2007, 11:48 PM
lol...newb, gtfo. The 4 cyl is more than enough for almost any offroading, it's the tranny, and gearing that matter.
But it is true in general that I6>all injins in anything.
Yogi
12th October 2007, 01:30 PM
I had a 99 Sport with the 4 cyl before I bought the Rubicon and to be honest with you I like the 4 cyl more for daily driving, especially around town. But I don't think i could give up my 4:1 now after having it.

I'm selling my 01 SE. and i have been more impressed with that thing then the 2 saharas i've owned. I got one of those stuck and the 4 cyl i haven't even gotten close to being stuck. rscam if you are looking and have around 9k i can hook you up with one with only 70k 5 spd.

i was at woodhouse in 04 talking about buying one before i bought the SS
without even starting to seriously talk numbers the dealer took 3500 off sticker
dropped from 28000ish to around 24500
i probably should have just bought that Jeep and never got another camaro

i doubt i would have anything, probably still have the jeep and probably not be wasting so much money on cars.
Yogi

You wouldn't be wasting so much money on cars cuz it would all be sunk into the jeep....lift, rims &tires, etc etc

Anyone else feel that Jeep is starting to get flooded in the market? I've seen jeep prices dropping pretty good. Not like HHR's but slowly losing that uniqueness just IMO

I bought a jeep because of the value on it. So i do know my facts. And what i'm getting at is back in the day they had Wrangler, cherokee, grand cherokee. and a truck.
Now days they have 7 including 2 types of wranglers, a Compass that looks like the old liberty, the patriot looks like the new liberty, liberty looks like the commander and the commander is a bigger uglier cherokee. Granted for only building SUV's they do a great job at selling them but why so many models that all look the same. And sorry a 4 door wrangler is not a wrangler.
Thats my argument not the fact that they hold their value.
BossRoss
2nd November 2007, 05:21 AM
no i think the 4 door wrangler is still a wrangler. if i had a family thats what i'd want to be driving but the fact that they took the 4.0 out of them makes me think a lil though. and jeep has gotten rid of two of their models for this coming year. if you had a car company that was only selling 3 models and all 3 were selling very well wouldnt u want to try a new vehicle to sell to another crowd of people. its smart business. your always gonna have ur models that are going to fail. thats why u keep building ur mainstay vehicles.
95gsx
3rd November 2007, 08:37 AM
but they have already made a lot off of those 3 models. why change it? i have no problem with growth of a good company but when you start making cars that look like the other cars you already make, you end up taking away the uniqueness of the jeeps. There is nothing out there that looks like a jeep. never has been, suzuki tried but it was to small. hummer just wants to be big so let them. but you won't find the same look. and they have relied on that look for some time. you don't see ford or chevy making 4 types of suv's that all look the same. and are relatively the same size. And i agree with the 3.8 vs 4.0 I won't say which one i like better i have not given the 3.8 a test drive but the 4.0 was known for, well, being the 4.0, you know what i mean if you have owned one. Although something with the 4.0/3.8 that would be able to do valve shut off would be wise.

chevy making 4 types of the same car? umm... lets see here they have the trailbalzer the equinox, then u can go into the gm and buick which are the same thing with diff badges. same motors, samd drivetrain. same bodystyles

yeah and look at how GM is doing? losing billions and struggling to stay afloat. They flooded the market with the "same" vehicle, same with ford and look how they are struggling. it should be like how they used to have it with a few cars. Wrangler Grand Cherokee liberty and maybe the 4 door wrangler seeing how your point was valid and i'm not going to argue it.

I have to say if anybody ever really wants to go down the rubicon trail give me a call first. My dad honestly lives down the street like one block. He drives his scout through there all the time in the summer. Its the best. I go snowmobling down there every winter. I know its off topic but still. free place to stay if you come with me...

Um...... GM is is only struggling domestically, they are flourishing internationally (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/23/business/worldbusiness/23toyota.html?_r=1&oref=slogin). And unlike Chrysler Corp. they seem to have the ability to adapt to a little trend called globalization. And don't think the Chrysler group doesn't share platforms like every other car company in the world. Geez Jason.
