by not ready i mean the car still sputters and surges. but i'll still race it. should be good for within a couple cars at least.

JesterMX6

geezuz, you have so many problems with that damn car

JesterMX6

no. same problem.

roo
10th October 2007, 09:32 AM
Has it ever ran right?

JesterMX6
10th October 2007, 09:45 AM
i'm not sure. when i first got it i was only running 8lbs of boost and had no problems. and if i run 8lbs now it runs fine. so maybe when i got it, if i'd have been running 15lbs like i am now it might have run shitty. my guess is no. its never "run right"

but if i turn the boost down the sputter goes away

I'm assuming the theory is that you have weak valve springs and under higher boost the pressure builds up enough to push the valves back open during the compression and power stroke to cause a misfire? It almost seems unlikely that 8 psi is going to make the difference between the valve staying shut or blowing open. You have to figure the cylinder pressures are going to be far greater pushing against that valve to keep it closed then the boost pressure trying to open it.

Are you sure you don't have an injector misfiring under higher duty cycles?

JesterMX6

i've replaced injectors already.

Are you working the injectors beyond their duty cycle at 16 psi? What about the maf? Any type of logs showing what is the ecu is seeing and doing at that point in time?

JesterMX6

shouldnt be anything beyond the cycle. its no more than i've done in the other car. and everything off the other car is on this car. ecu, injectors, fuel rail, filter, everything. everything EXCEPT the head. so i'm switching springs (plus a thicker shim) to see if it helps.
