This guide is provided to you, to help you make your experience at StarCity Racing a positive one. While this is fairly long you will find it has alot of useful information. If you are familiar with posting on other boards you might find some of it repetitive. In that case skip over those sections. Enjoy.

Noob Post: It is required here at StarCity Racing, every new member make a noob post. This post consist of general information about you and your car. This is a car site incase you got lost. There are exceptions to the car part, so tell us what you use to get around. Because this is a local site tell us how you found StarCity Racing. If you are a cop please stop reading and leave now. Failure to complete a noob post is grounds for being banned from the site.

Hazing: Most of the time when a new member shows up they go through a hazing process. Honestly it never ends but it does reduce dramatically after a short period. You can control this.

How to reduce Hazing: Producing a very detailed noob post without ignorance and arrogance is a good way to avoid being hazed. It's also encouraged that you keep both of the above limited for well the duration of your membership. Especially while you’re still getting established.

Another option is to go out and meet the members. You will find that there is a lot of "talk" here. The internet is serious business. You will also find that members are for the most part accepting and friendly in person. Meeting the group is the easiest way to being accepting and well having a lot of fun.

Talking Back: If you find yourself in a position where you want to argue with a member I suggest you check their post count. Most members with high post counts can make you look retarded even if your right. Don't believe me, try it.

How to use StarCity Racing.

StarCity Racing operates on the best servers and board format available. Because of this StarCity Racing (SCR) has many features and understanding how to use all these features will make the experience even better.

Changing Themes: When you joined SCR you were set up with the default theme. Currently the default setting is the "SpeedFire" theme. This theme is perfect for some users, for others it's blinding. You can switch Themes by using the Quick Style Chooser. The style chooser is a drop down menu located at the bottom left hand corner of your screen. Simply click this drop down and select a new color. Some themes are very similar while others are very unique. Select the one that matches your personality. Don't worry, no one call tell you are using the pink theme.

Correct Posting: correct grammar and spelling is not require for using SCR. However it does make the experience better for everyone else when you :english: . So attempt to use correct spelling or at least understandable abbreviations. Slang/abbrev. like rofl, Lol,OMG, & wtf etc. If you're not sure what these mean please see the glossary at the bottom of the page. The Grammar Police will slap you for not using correct grammar and spelling.

How to make a post: You will find at the bottom of each thread a quick reply box. In this field you can type a message that you wish to share with the group. You can format the text using the tool bar supplied at the top of the box.

*NWS*: NWS is an abbreviation for "Not Workplace Safe". SCR is pretty easy going about sharing information. To be perfectly honest, if you find it interesting so will many of the members. Some of the most interesting things in the world are not appropriate for viewing in the workplace and or school. Many of the board members visit SCR from their place of work or school. To allow members to visit without fear of viewing content they are not suppose to at work it is REQUIRED that all material that is questionable be labeled NWS in the title. This will warn member that the content contained in that thread is possibly not suitable for work or school. Admins reserve the right to label any thread NWS as they see fit.

Now that you know what to post, and how to post... lets cover some other basics.

Forums: Within SCR you will find many different forums. These forums were created to keep the board in an organized. Each forum as a description that tells you what it's used for. There is a section for anything you can think of, so put it in the correct section. This is not optional; Admin rule is enforced (see below for more information on admin rule). An Admin can edit your thread title and location of the thread can moved to meet SCR standards. This is not rocket science.

Personalize your account

USERCP: This is how you edit your profile. There are so many things you can do in this area that it would take forever to cover. So we will cover the basics.

Signature: If you notice at the bottom of every post i make you will see a picture that is consistant with me. This picture is used to help other members know who is posting what without having to think to hard. It is also a way for you to express yourself to everyone else. It is common practice to use the signature as a way to showcase your ride. Signatures must be between 800 x 200. NO NWS SIGNATURES EVER!!

How to set up a signature: you don't have to use a picture. You can use text (maybe tell us about your car/mods). If you would like to use a pictures you can either have to hosted it on a 3rd party server, load it on SCR via the signature upload option or you can host it on the SCR image hoster in the nav bar. Most members find photobucket.com to be a very easy to use host to use. Photobucket has it's own directions on "how to host". once you have posted your picture (sig pic) on the third party host server they will give you a direct url link. Copy the whole thing.

Click on the USERCP (in the navbar at the top of the screen), click edit signature, You will see what looks like the quick reply box in the forum. It works just the same. To post your picture click on the "insert picture button" (looks like a mountain with a stamp in the top right corner) THis will bring a pop up box. The box will already populate http:// delete this and paste your link from the host. Click ok. Now at the bottom of the screen it says "save signature" click this. You're done. Congrats.
