Fyrtruck

In October 2008, I purchased a 1976 GMC from my cousin down in Salina, KS. The story on the truck was that it was a camper special body that had been transferred to a different 3/4T frame. The truck underwent a restoration in the late 80s. From the looks of things it looks like they just did some cosmetic work and not very good either.
Heres a rundown of the truck when I got it:
Body:
Almost perfect except for some minor rust underneath the cab and along the bottoms of the doors.
The color is orange and creme, two-tone, with chrome trim.
Front of the truck has two KC daylighters.
The truck came with an aftermarket sunroof.
Drivetrain:
Originally the truck had a 400/400 combo, but it threw a rod in mid 2008 and is no more.
The engine was replaced with a 383 Stroker motor from marshall engines and mounted to a TH350. Edelcrock carb and high-rise intake.
Since it is a 4x4 it somehow, not sure when it would have been installed, has a NP205 transfer case, known to be the most badass TC. It is totally gear driven unlike the NP203 which is chain driven.
Corporate 14 bolt in the rear. Dana 44 up front with locking hubs.
Suspension:
4 inch Skyjacker lift kit, completely spring and shock suspension.
Rancho front steering stabilizers.
35" BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/As
Other:
Custom cloth bucket seats with center console, and a cooler under the console.
In January 2009, the truck gave me alittle scare.
After feeling the transmission slipping for quite some time, I decided to drain the fluid and replace the filter. Well that pretty much killed the trans, nothing but black metallic fluid came out, which was the only thing creating friction between the clutches.
I get on the horn right away to a cousin in Lincoln. He had a lead on a trans for $100. Then I called Jake (fmstruck) to see if he could fix my transfer case for me since it wouldn't shift into 4HI even before my trans took a ****.
Got the trans the next day, called Martin and asked about how to transfer parts from a 4x4 trans to 2WD trans...apparently it takes alot so I sold the trans I just bought to a friend of mine who needed it for his 69 Chevy 1/2T 2WD. Martin said he would rebuild mine for me. Thank god for Marty!
Gave Marty all the parts he would need and the trans and he got it done. At this point I had already driven down to Beatrice to meet up with Jake to give him the transfer case. I decided since I was doing everything on the drivetrain I might as well do it right. So I replaced both U-Joints in the rear driveshaft myself and sent the front driveshaft into ITP for a total rebuild since the CV joint was completely fuxored.
Replaced the starter bendix. New flexplate. New torque converter. Got the trans installed (put a B&M shift kit in, hd/towing). new trans mounts. Got the TC back from Jake. He ground the shafts down so the TC is now a twin-stick. Installed both driveshafts and its complete.
Still waiting on another paycheck to get the twin-stick shifters and boot.
Pics to come...
