THAT GOT ****ING OWNED

The end

Oh, and there was this red camaro. It was a pretty close race. I think I was within 20 cars. I thought at first maybe his gears were hurting his top end and I wasn't losing anymore ground but after reviewing the video it appears that he kept pulling away and I just missed the first time he hit his brakes to start slowing down. We'll have to race again once I clean my k&n. I think the tables will turn after that.

The Mark VIII didn't have what it takes either. I got raped out of the hole, and was back a good 2 cars or so by the 1/4 mile. :( Those gears suck my ass.

From a 15mph roll to 110ish we could have passed Grey Poupon to each other. ROFL

That was awesome. We were neck and neck and then I think my car shifted in to 3rd and you start pulling ahead and I think you're going to walk away from me then your car shifts in to 3rd and I pull back and we are neck and neck again until 110ish when I hit redline.

That truck had some serious traction problems on the brand new asphalt, it looked like it was in the rain. That 3rd gen is definately a beast though :bow1::thunder:

For some reason I thought we started right before the new asphalt but it did feel like the road was crumbling beneath us when we took off so maybe we did start on the asphalt.

Either way I was in the f-body so I'm supposed to get to use the "i have no traction" excuse ;)

Used to launching on slicks = no traction when trying to feather the pedal with street tires.

hahah idk if I'll have the one fixed by then. I can hook good enough.

If you're not getting traction then you're not feathering it very well.

meh, I was launching on the brand new tires I now have on front. The tires I had on last night have seen much better days, I was assuming a little burnout prior would help me out a lil and uncover some softer tread.

roo
3rd October 2007, 01:16 PM
We can race again. I just think you're delusional thinking you're going to make up 3 cars. It's not like I wasn't launching on the same surface as you were.

00dakotav8
3rd October 2007, 02:30 PM
I wouldnt doubt I could make up 3 cars with my slicks on. Lets be realistic, I probably cut about a 2.9 60 foot, at the track I was 2.2-2.3 all day. Thats more than 3 cars.

roo

I think he's confused because I took him out of the hole so bad that he thinks he got a bad launch when in reality he probably always launches like that. The TPI just has too much low end for him to keep up

00dakotav8
3rd October 2007, 05:02 PM
hahahhahaha No trust me it launches a lot harder. Idk why but now that its colder out, it feels like its leaving hella harder than the 2.3s at the track.

that's because he was so freaked out about losing that he just mashed the gas like a noob. lol

I know what his best time is and I know what the worst time is on the mullet. If I was concerned about losing I wouldn't of had brook riding with me.

JesterMX6
3rd October 2007, 08:13 PM
yeah. cuz all of brooke's 120 lbs will make a difference lol

if i was concerned about losing half the time i'd hire a skinny kid (mike maybe>??) to do my racing for me lol

JesterMX6
3rd October 2007, 08:19 PM
i have a camera (remember theres a video from like 2 months ago that i have yet to post up)

but i've never really liked in car footage. i'd ratehr see footage at around the 1/8th

JesterMX6
3rd October 2007, 08:19 PM
plus footage is usually better from the winning car. might as well have him ride with u.

roo
3rd October 2007, 08:22 PM
Actually footage is better in the losing car because it's much easier to record whats ahead of you than whats behind you.

Besides, like you pointed out the added weight isn't going to make a difference anyways.

JesterMX6
3rd October 2007, 08:27 PM
on the street i dont think it would. although if u make him record from your hatch (via tripod..just hit record basically) you might get off the line better. have him record from the hatch, then after the launch pop it so he falls out and you'll get downforce from the open hatch, and lose the weight at the same time. plus whoever's recording at the starting line will have footage of brook rolling across the street. best video evar

roo
3rd October 2007, 08:29 PM
on the street i dont think

Yes, on the street the laws of physics no longer apply.

Thunder
3rd October 2007, 08:33 PM
the weight matters... i remember when i raced chris waaay back at a spot, and i had sam ride with me. and george you know sam prob at the time weighed 140 lbs. With him in the car, i only beat chris by 1 car. with him out, i beat chris by about 2-2.5. it does make a difference.

JesterMX6
3rd October 2007, 08:36 PM

wasn't my point. i'm just of the opinion that there's so many other variables that weight is usually the last thing on my mind. (at least average passenger weight that is)

Yes, there are a lot of variables but if you got in a situation where it was going to be a close race you sure as hell wouldn't want the added passenger weight in your car. The added weight is going to slow your acceleration across the entire run which could throw the outcome of the race if it was close.

Watch this video and tell me weight doesn't make a difference on the street. The first run the camera man was in brooks car. The 2nd race the camera man was in my car. The 3rd race the camera man was back in brooks car.

true that i can understand. i guess i dont see our race being close enough to let it affect the outcome. fairly certain you win.

especially if i can't get ahold of a 5500 to 6000 rpm pill. something tells me 3000 rpm won't get me far lol

Passengers make a huge difference. I've raced cars with my Cobra, and there was about a 2 car difference when switching passengers from car to car.

For example, check out the difference it made with me and Roo:

It should though, because if your modifications made your car run 14s, then you should be able to beat the mullet. I think it's best G-Tech was a 15.0?

On 13 second cars every 100 lbs is worth about a tenth of a second at the track, so on slower cars that could really add up!

If you cut off the fenders, hood , roof, trunk, and take out the windows, It just might make it?

Then it won't be aerodynamic anymore. I don't think the throttle blades were opening up fully so that was holding me back from a 12 second pass.

JesterMX6
4th October 2007, 12:01 PM
yeah my gtech was a 15.7

with my sputtering problem i'm usually damn even with taylor who ran a 15.2 at kearney on a hot ass day. if i can get rid of the sputter i SHOULD be able to hit around a 15 flat on a track.

of course bench racing is the only way to go!!!!!!

Its not his anymore. He bought it for me back in the day, and this summer I started making payments to buy it from him because he is a **** about modding it. Who the **** cares anyways? So what if I'm fortunate enough to have my parents afford a vehicle for me? At least I take car of it, unlike the kid that got a c5 vette for 16 and has yet to wash it, or what about my brothers friend who got a benz for his 16 and ended up rolling it on pinelake at 120? Do not preach to me like I'm a stupid youngin that is given everything on a silver platter.
