I haven't taken many pics of the car because I don't have my own camera but I borrowed a friends so I can start taking pics/vids now. Yes the hood is on right now, it needs a little PDR and adjusting but I don't mind.
I'll go out and take a vid right now.

You might as well not put on the SPT axle-back because you're not gonna hear **** out of that. Plus that's overpriced by a **** ton. Go on ebay and buy a OBX cat-back if you want something like that. It's only 275 and you actually hear a tone out of it.

Honestly, I think the SPT Exhaust is worthless. If you want something that you'll be able to hear I'd go on ebay and get an OBX Catback. Or if you want something that's a little bit better quality, go to www.boxer4racing.com and buy Stromung Axle-Back or Cat-Back. Either of those would be decent.

I don't have it, I traded. All it needs is PDR, new DS Vent and I need to weld a spot on the latch on the hood. The reason it looks so misfit is because the top 2 tabs on my grill are broke off so it hangs down and makes it look like theres a big gap. I was gonna go try to pop some of them but I'm gonna wait till tommorrow.

The motor in my car (EJ22E) has a lower compression ratio than most Subaru motors. I could run 7-8 pounds somewhat safely on the stock block. I'll probably do that until I can afford to get an EJ22T block (Closed deck). Then after that I'll probably sell it and get a WRX/STi

John Pearson (00rs on NSOC) has an EJ22T he would sell me. I'm most likely gonna buy it this summer. Swap out the short block, TD04, WRX injectors, fuel pump, intercooler, exedy stage 1 clutch, and a greddy emanage blue.
I'm going to do the turbo kit first, then when I get money, swap out my EJ223 block for the EJ22T block. Might throw in a better set of rods when I do it.

EJ22T motor-450 (Could sell heads, IM, EM and get at least 200 back)
TD04-50
WRX injectors-150-200
WRX fuel pump-25-30
WRX TMIC-100-150
Custom up and down pipe-150-200
3" custom TBE-250 (guess)
greddy emanage blue-200-300
exedy stage 1 clutch-around 300
Total-little under 2k. That's rounding it all up. Plus there wouldn't be much to wiring other than the Greddy EManage

Anyone have any other ideas of what it would be from? It does it mostly in 1st gear but I've had it in 2nd and 3rd, too. It just bucks when you give it gas. The more throttle you give it, the more it bucks. Figured I'd start with the basics, Air, Spark, and Fuel. Plugs are probably overdue anyways.

Good thing I talked to Russ about my problems, otherwise I wouldn't be getting one.
My problems are far worse than I expected. I have a spun bearing and the car won't even start. So I'll have this setup:
EJ205 block
Stock pistons, rods, and crank
ACL Race Bearings
Cometic HG
WRX Oil and Water pump
EJ22E heads
I was driving home today and this loud squeak that I've had lately came back. Then I heard a knock, then the car died and wouldn't start. If you try to start it, it just sounds like a grinding noise. I thought maybe a pulley seized up or something so I loosened up the belt and it still does it. So as soon as I get all the parts I listed above, I'll be pulling the motor and swapping shortblocks. Probably gonna be sellin a lot of ****, otherwise It'll take forever to get it done.

Has anyone had bad experiences with CarQuest on West O? I called them today to check and see what was going on with my crank. He said that it was done and I asked how long it's been done for. Apparently it's been finished and my bearings have been there since last Friday. I never got a call from anyone about it being done. I really hope their work quality is better than the service they've showed me.

Probably gonna have the shortblock 85% assembled by the end of tomorrow. Checked clearances on the rod bearings and they spec'd out. All I have to do is apply some assembly lube, torque it, and the cranks done. Main's are gonna be a ***** to check clearances on cuz I have to torque everything on the block down and then undo it all :pissed:.

8th May 2009, 07:29 AM
Don't you just torque the main caps?
GC8U
8th May 2009, 02:41 PM
What do you mean?
The block splits directly in half, you split the block, put the crank in one half, put the other block half on top of, torque everything down, and then I have to take it all apart again to check clearances. Which will probably end up being exactly what they should be since the crank was just ground and brand new bearings. All the rod bearings were in perfect spec.

I have some good news for my car, but probably bad for me. First of all, I'm probably legally retarded, so maybe the gov. will send me some money to fix my car. My valves aren't bent at all. To be honest, I'm not super smart. I figured that both intake and exhaust valves are supposed to be completely sealed, from what I was told by a guy that build motors for race cars for almost 8 years. It makes sense too, because my valves aren't scratched or cracked or anything. So, I just have to wait for a few gaskets, new rings, and put it all back in. I'm gonna stay up till AM everyday. I promise you, I will have this car running and driving by 7 PM of next Friday May 15th, 2009.

Jesus balls...
CarQuest is the biggest **** hole for a machine shop in this town. They said that the crank would be grounded and bearings would be there for it in a week. It took longer than that but, I can understand that. They have a lot of work to do. But, I called last Tuesday to ask if it was any where near done, and they said it had been done since the Friday before and no one called me to tell me so. Now, they ordered the wrong main bearings, they won't even fit in the block. So I guess I can say goodbye to having my car done this weekend becasue they'll probably take their sweet ass time to get them ordered. The only good that came out of it is that I don't have to pay for new bearings and they did a perty good job on the crank.

I'm supposed to have my piston rings here within the next day or two. I'll be ordering the rest of the parts that I need this week and take the cam seals, cam plugs, and valve stem seals to the machine shop so they can rebuild my heads that supposedly will be done around 3 days after I bring them the parts. So I'm shooting for firing it up not this weekend but, the next weekend.

Some good and bad news.
Good news is, I got 80 percent of the parts I need to get this thing running. I put the piston rings on two of the pistons and got two of them in the block.
Bad news? I broke 2 rings in the process though . All because I'm a dipshit who half-assed it and didn't use a ring compressor, I just used my hands.
Supposed to take all the seals and plugs to CarQuest on Wednesday so they can start on my heads.

Anyways, I'm just gonna pick them up from CarQuest and I'm going to Omaha to pick up another set of heads, a wrx manifold, and an aftermarket up pipe. Oh, did I mention these heads are cammed?

Not necessarily, the turbo guys go with 272 and 280 cams off tunes for a while and they are fine as far as I know. I can just tighten up my throttle cable so it idles a little higher. Besides, the lift isn't THAT high. You probably won't be able to notice the lope until I tell you that there's cams there.
