I paid...$250 for my sub, $150 for my amp, don't know how much in wiring but not too much. I still need to increase my alternator (couple hundred maybe), we'll say a couple hundred more for fiberglass, wood, connectors, paint, crap like that.

Am I close to $5k?

i think theyre basing their opinions off of the prices that stereowest rapes everyone else on. a 5k system at stereowest would be <1500 im sure. its all about connections...

C.J. you can really improve your system for $500, I'm guessing you just have stock everything right now?

You could add a solid sub-stage to fill out your sound and have some money left over to maybe upgrade your head unit.
