I went and looked at this '99 Sentra last night for $3400 (http://lincoln.craigslist.org/cto/897561768.html), private party value is around $3000-$3700.
It's in pretty decent shape, but at around 20mph a mechanical rumble starts from the front end, almost like my blazer when I have it in 4wd. It's not so bad that it shakes the mirrors or anything, but it is there.
The other fishy thing is that he said he bought it for $3500, drove it while it was "in transit", then bought another car and let this one sit. The only other car I saw was a little blue terd that looks no better than this car.
Anyhow, the seller and I both work 7 days a week, so trying to get it in to get looked at might be a hassle. I'm not sure if I should just ask him to drive it down to get looked at before I buy it, or just put $1000 down and pay the rest once I figure out what's wrong with it.
