I have been kicking around spending more money on her but cant decide what to do.
Would it be smart to start upgadeing tranny and torq converter or to start adding more fuel with a lift pump and mondified CP3 and hope the tranny doesn't give out. but i am worried aobut my egt's so an intercooler is possible to.
Also would the banks waste gate actuator help much?

Whats all done to it now? I've toyed around with a lot of diesels in the past, mostly cummins but my ex owns a d-max and she's a diesel freak haha. Also what year is it? Jw so I get my facts straight and can try to help you out part wise.

methanol injection if you're worried about egt's

Well as of right now i have the edge with attutude, 4" magnaflow downpipe back into duals and a K&N cold air intake. It is a 02 3/4 excab short box.

Yea i have thought of that but they dont get very high towing where the methanol is worth the dollars. I only peaked at 1100 degrees going up a steep hill once, but that was only with a 25' enclosed trailer hauling the camaro. So it wasnt very heavy only 7500 lbs is my guess.
It spikes to 1300 pretty easy on stage 5 on the edge doing a quarter mile pass, but the chip backs down the fuel and it drops right down.

O and yea i know i am going to have to pay attention to my injectors because all early duramax's have a problem with them and GM and Bosch wont do anything about it

BD Power exhaust manifold will help lower egt's and give you more proportionate exhaust flow. They usually run around $300 and take a couple hours to put in. I don't know how far you want to take your truck, but a new intercooler would help it out with temps and power. New turbo's are around 2200-4000 (base price from retailers) for duramax so if your trying to stay a little lower in money that might be out of the question.
Tranny wise, I know the allisons hold good up to about 370-390fwhp under heavy loads or performance and the clutch packs start to slip. I'm not sure where you would want to go from there as I don't know how much upgrade kits for allisons cost. Converters are usually around 1200-1300 from ATS or BD Power.

How much would the manifold help egt wise i have seen them but wondered how much it really did help?
Yea a turbo is probably out for right now because that would really speed up the demise of the allison. I have also heard it is smart to do the intercooler before the turbo
Suncoast sells a kit with all new cluch packs that hold something like 100% over stock, a converter, and trans go shift kit for 2800. That is probably where i will go if i smoke the tranny.

I'm not sure but if you couple it with a 4" turbo back like you have It'd probably help a lot. It should drop it around 100 degree's though, thats what the pulse manifolds for cummins drops the egt's, I've put a couple of those on before. If you look at the castings on the inside its a larger bore and smoother. It'd cool down the turbo a little bit helping flow exhaust better. It also gets rid of that dip that GM put in the stock manifold for clearance that isn't needed and bolts right up. Also they are made from better grade material that helps reduce shrinking and are more heat resistant.
A wastegate actuator like you were looking at would be a good mod to squeeze a few more psi out of your turbo. The Turbonetics intercooler is supposed to drop EGT's by 150 degree's (advertisement specs) same with intake temp and should yield a bit more power due to increased air density.
Suncoast makes good transmission parts, they've been good to deal with in the past.

My lastest find instead of the wastgate actuator is the PPE boost valve looks like to me you just splice it in the line from the turbo to the actuator and it is only like 26 bucks, but it is non ajustable.

150 degrees is average from what i am hearing on an intercooler but at 1100-1300 bucks it ougt to help more than that in my oppionion

I know there's a company that makes a boost "fooler" type deal so you push a few more psi, I just don't remember who. Yeah 1300 bucks for 150 degree's is a lot, but it helps in the long run with a cooler running engine and more power. Plus its already there if you ever do bump up to a new turbo.

would you not be able to get an ebay intercooler?

Reading the Dmax sites, no one seems too concerned until you start running 1300 continuous. They talk about spikes to 15 or 1600 which seems ungodly high to me since aluminum melts below that. According to Banks there are only 2 things that make egts high on a Diesel. Too much fuel or not enough air, which is really only one thing, ie Richer is Hotter. Seems like money would be well spent on anything that increases airflow to the cylinder. Bottom Line.

prob not worth the try cuz it would flow worse than the stock one you get what you pay for

Yea i agree but i still dont like going that high even though many say that it is safe to do so.

I think the foolers work only on the cumins i have never seen ones for the ford or chevy

Haha probably true...Idk what I was thinkin :D
But those would be the mods I'd go after for lowering egt's and attaining more power. Manifold/Intercooler/Turbo. I know banks makes a Hoss intake manifold for the dmax too but thats hella expensive.

Yea and it requires extensvie modifiaction of everything likr turbo location and everything that sits on top of the block. I dont think that i will go for that nor will the future wife
PPE boost valve ordered 31 bucks with shipping supposed to raise boost levels by 5-8 psi full throttle and better mid range boost. I will see if it is worth the little dollars, but it is on back order so it might be awhile.
