I just found some old pics of my old truck. I really wish i would of kept that truck. I really miss off-roading and i never did get a chance to go to tuttle. I really need to find another 4X4.

Looks like you have a pretty good start on another 4x4 with that Nova there.

I admit it does look a little high in my sig, but it really doesn't look that bad in person.

I don't know i used it pretty hard. I did have new axles put in it when i put the 4.56 gears and detroit locker in it. so i'm sure that helped a lil bit.

I know of several trucks that are used hard with corporate 10 bolt axles, and run 35's or bigger, and there fine. not saying a 12/d44 combo or a 14/d60 isnt better, I know they are. And FYI... when refering to automotive components that fail, I like to spell it "break" not brake.

You sure area know it all, huh?:bored1:

i'm gonna drop the front 2" when i put the disc brakes on it. i'll probably do the same with the back at the same time, if the back tires don't rub too bad. but i'm probably not gonna get to it tell this winter.

Climbing hills in the pasture? At moab? Pulling a pulling sled? Jumping in the hay field? Pulling a NH3 trailer? Hunting Coyotes?

Hunting coyotes, playing in the mud, crossing speed bumps.

City boys, huh. You guys are pry right. Everyone I ever knew with 35s on there 1/2 ton didn't have **** for horsepower and didn't regear. They were too stupid to figure out why now there truck didn't have power. I am sure is you have 3.08s and a 305 you would have a hard time breaking axles or pulling a old lady off a stool.

82355
15th October 2008, 03:09 PM
I had 3.08's and 33x12.50x15's with a GM Goodwrench 350/TH350. They weren't too bad driving around in 4 Low. It was a $200 pickup.

Huh, well we had a 81 k10 with 235 75 15s and 2.73s. It had a goodwrench 350 with flat tops, a rv cam, and headers. It would go over a 100 but still no lowend. Raced a guy in a 2005 k2500 and told him I could beat him to a town 5 miles away. His kept shutting off. Beat him by a mile or so.

I would have to agree with you on not having any power. A stock 350 in 1989 definitely didn't have much power. but thats why i had the 4.56s in it. the only thing drivetrain wise that i broke was a few u-joints. other then that it was a reliable truck.

Hillbilly
15th October 2008, 08:55 PM
I promise you had a great engine compared to a stock mid 80s engine. TBI 350s run pretty hard if you know a few tricks.

I prefer somthing shorter as well, but for this truck and what I use if for it'll stay the same for a while. I drive it to the fremont swap meet last year and got 18mpg towing an 18' car trailor loaded with parts, highway speeds around65ish its only turning like 2000 rpm

It was not near as nice as it looks in the picturesm it was actully pretty rusty but the copper colored paint hides it.

It is at the FTP body shop getting paint right now, the engine bay pic is the one in my avatar

That is a good looking truck. Do you have any pics of the Nova, i'd like to see the stance of it and know what kind of suspension you have on it.

I do have some pics, but not on this computer... I havnt taken pictures of it for like 4 years, not to mention even seen the whole car in like 6 months (It is burried behind my garage)

The suspension was rebuilt like 7 years ago I want to say, when I was in highschool, anyway it has energy suspension bushings, stock replacement rear leaf springs, and the origonal front coil springs. Sits about like a stock one i guess.
